Today we’d like to introduce you to Ronny Haden.
Hi Ronny, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
In 2017 I was physically hit by a car on the highway and was in a medically induced coma and broke my pelvis. So within my recovery process, I had a lot of alone time and idle time to figure out things about myself and what I love to do. In the process, even tho before my accident I was doing my own makeup, during my recovery process I really dived deeper into studying everything that comes with learning about makeup in the “makeup/beauty world” and realized okay this is one of my callings! It started off with me posting vibrant different eyeshadow looks, I would even get on Instagram live and do my makeup and interact with my followers who would tune in. Fast forward to late 2018 I took my first client for her baby shower because she liked my work! It wasn’t until 2020 I really decided to become a professional makeup artist, start taking clients, and put a name behind the brand “Ronny on the Beat” which I loved so much & stuck with it ever since! From 2021 to the present, I’ve done makeup for weddings, fashion shows, tv shows, birthdays, social media influencers for content, photo shoots, Halloween, etc… “Ronny on the Beat” specializes in Beauty makeup & Special Fx makeup.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Wow, entrepreneurship overall is no smooth road! And for me not really having any real guidance or mentor who is an entrepreneur to help me learn the ins and outs of running my own business definitely have been at times quite stressful! There have been times I wouldn’t have clients book for a whole entire month for months, and I would be trying to figure out why. Which made me realize I need to put out more content of my work! The more I would put out content of my work either using a model or myself it would bring clients my way to book and get their makeup done. I would have times I wasn’t confident in my work, which is a key factor to have, because when you’re confident in your work and what you do, you have no problem showing it off or networking with people to let them know of the services you offer.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I’m “Ronny on the Beat”, I am a makeup artist based in Houston, Texas (Alief area). I specialize in Beauty Makeup and Special Fx makeup. I would say I’m most proud of making a name for myself in the beauty world, especially when it comes to doing Special Fx. What sets me apart from others is my determination, work ethic, and my diversity as far as being able to do beauty makeup and special Fx makeup and combining the two.
In terms of your work and the industry, what are some of the changes you are expecting to see over the next five to ten years?
Wow, in the next 5 to 10 years the possibilities are endless as to where I see myself being in the industry! I do plan to have my own cosmetic line where I’m actually in the lab with the scientist creating formulas for different products I would be selling such as foundations, concealers, eyeshadows, etc… becoming a very successful brand like Fenty Beauty, P.Louise, Juvias Place! I could also see myself working on movie sets for different roles that require makeup artists doing Special Fx. Even having my own Special Fx cosmetic line making my own liquid latex, fake blood, bruise wheel pallets, etc… Doing makeup tour lessons globally! THE SKY IS REALLY LIMITLESS!
