Today we’d like to introduce you to Rosendo Reyna.
Rosendo, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I started Discover Web Solutions in 2007 after reading some books on web design and computer programming. I started with a few clients providing free web design services in order to get my portfolio started. Soon after I began to get paying clients. I continued to learn more about web design and programming, and I started structuring my fees. I also started offering other services such as graphic design, website hosting, and domain hosting. Today I also provide social media management, email marketing, and graphic design. I started getting so much work that I helped my wife create a graphic design company, Santos Graphic Design. Now, I also provide printing services to my clients as well.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It has not been easy. When I first started I stayed up really late working usually seven days a week. It was difficult to find out how much to charge my clients. There were also times when a client needed a specific feature on a website that I had no idea how to develop it, but I would still work on it. This helped me learn more, and I made sure the client had a working product/service. Although there is not much stress in this line of work, there are times when it can be quite stressful – if a website breaks or gets hacked. There was one particular time when I had a client that had a major accident of an oil well in the Gulf of Mexico. The client’s website went down because there were too many people visiting the website. It was my job to keep the website up and running all night.
Please tell us about Discover Web Solutions.
My business specializes in web design and web development. This is basically creating the actual design of the website and the inner workings of it – pretty much the code. I create all websites for desktop, tablet, and smart phone. I also provide website hosting, domain hosting, graphic design, social media marketing, email marketing, and printing services. What sets my company apart from others is the service that I provide. There are many web designers and graphic designers, but it’s been my experience that many of them lack quality customer service. Many of them stop answering the clients. I have several clients that I have never met in person, but they are with me because I answer my phone, emails, and texts rather quickly. I am very responsive, and transparent with my clients. I try to save them money.
Do you look back particularly fondly on any memories from childhood?
My favorite memory from childhood was playing the guitar and writing music. I played classical guitar as a child and actually made it my career later in life.
