Meet Ryan Mathes of Schroeder and Associates in The Woodlands

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ryan Mathes.

Ryan, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I’m very lucky to have found a career that is such a good fit for me – it has math and analysis but also people. Human behavior is the most fascinating thing on the planet! Everyone can benefit from collaboration and expertise when it comes to organizing their financial lives. My job is to present the options and help people have informed and improved financial outcomes based on their goals.

I decided to become a financial advisor before college by identifying my interest in working with people. I attended the University of Texas in Austin when I obtained my B.A. in finance and minor in sociology.

I started with Schroeder and Associates after college and most enjoy the level of interaction we have with our clients and the freedom we have as a team to shape our firm and the experience our clients have with us.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Fortunately, there’s not much to report here! I do have two small sons and my husband also works so our main challenge is keeping everything running. I attempt to be highly effective with my personal time so I can accomplish everything that is needed to keep both the business and my household running smoothly. I also have amazing support through local family, which I am extremely grateful for. They pitch in whenever it is needed.

We’d love to hear more about your work.
At Schroeder and Associates, we simplify the lives of busy people through financial planning. I hope, as a firm, we are known for our willingness to wade into the details of your life with you. I love getting into the various scenarios that clients are considering to see what the best option would be and love what they choose. I’m always aware that the decision is not mine. This is their life and their choices. I am just here to present the possible outcomes and be a sounding board for ideas.

What were you like growing up?
The exact same as I am now! I believe I am considered to be a fast-paced, driven person which is amusing to me since all I’m trying to do is keep up with life just like everyone else.
