Meet S. Prejean of My Big Dream in Central

Today we’d like to introduce you to S. Prejean.

Thanks for sharing your story with us S. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I was a theater major in undergrad, so I enjoy all things creative! I knew I wanted to write a children’s book upon graduation, so when I initially started it was set out to be a fictional teen book. However, as I was writing the fictional book, I was writing short stories as well for a younger crowd (ages 2-5). From there, My Big Dream was produced. An innovation turned into a product and from there a small business!

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
There were many struggles. I have an entire book of struggles before the road became smooth (laughing). The building process had many struggles such as getting the product off the ground. I not only wanted to get the book on mainstream, I had a huge problem with wanting everything to happen at once! During that time, I didn’t understand the importance of patience and embracing the journey as I do now.

So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the My Big Dream story. Tell us more about the business.
My Big Dream is not only a book, it’s a service. We teach children how to become authors and illustrators for a day. We specialize in play and imagination techniques that enhance children’s creative capabilities. Overall, we are more than the author coming to read a story.

What makes us unique from others is that we actually have an astronaut on board with us! Astronaut Buddy is apart of My Big Dream and a pivotal character in the story. I’m most proud of knowing that when we are scheduled for a book tour, there will be a guaranteed smile on a child’s face.

Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and business?
I’ll say we in truly go with whatever life throws at us (hopefully all good, laughing).
