Meet Sadaf Khan of Layla Love Designer Events in Sugar Land and Missouri City

Today we’d like to introduce you to Sadaf Khan.

Sadaf, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
Layla Love Designer Events was born when a little girl (who is the namesake of this company) made her arrival into this world in 2011.  My company is exactly the same age as her today.  We celebrate eight successful years on September 12th, 2019!

I graduated from the University of Houston with a Bachelor of Arts.  As an extrovert and savvy communicator I used my wit and optimism to scout job opportunities that held me to a higher standard.  I was fortunate to get recruited, and landed a well paying job at Stewart Title as an Executive Manager in Insurance Retention and Finance. Yeah. I compromised my “passion”.  Twelve years later, I was still working that Corporate Ladder. Making my moves, and drinking the cool-aide.

Until…Little Layla Sophia Khan came knocking at my womb.  She is the epitome of self motivation.  The middle child who DEMANDS to be heard.  The little rebel that screams “I NEED MORE”.  

She made me do it. She made me reflect on my passions.  She reassured me that going for my dreams was no compromise.  I had to follow my heart.  And follow my heart, I did!  Layla Love Designer Events is a branch of the family support and love that I have received all my life.  My company reflects the soft side of embrace, and understanding.  It also reflects the drive and grit of never taking ‘no’ for an answer.  This company stemmed from a growing seed, and has branched many memorable Weddings, Social Milestones, Intimate Gatherings, and Celebrations along the way.  We are fully Certified under the National Bridal Society umbrella, and took our career goals to the next level by pursuing an additional degree through the Conrad Hilton College of Hotel and Restaurant Management.

I pride myself today as an Entrepreneur, Women’s Advocate, a Wife, and Mother of three beautiful children.  My motto today is stronger than ever – We can have it all, we just have to try to step forward into the shoes we were meant to wear.  

Has it been a smooth road?
Life isn’t always predictable. Challenges are presented in small and big ways sometimes. We learn and grow through the obstacles and embrace the failures that come along the way. We have to.

Firstly, I have learned: If you don’t believe in yourself, no one else will. Always put your best foot forward.

Secondly: Put in the hours – And educate yourself in your field.

Thirdly: Be kind to yourself, and don’t take things personally when negotiating with hard heads. If you have an emotional reaction to everything that is ever said to you – You will never succeed.

Lastly: Be open to constructive criticism. The toughest birds are the best breeders.
