Today we’d like to introduce you to Sandra LaForge Longoria.
Sandra, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I have had a camera in my hand for as long as I can remember. My best Christmas gift when I was very young was a Polaroid camera. I did not make a career in photography, however, spent many years in Healthcare but always continued taking photographs; vacations, kids sports, you name it. I did however have a job imaging bones, as a Radiologisc Technologist many years ago.
My career choices placed me traveling a lot and we decided it was time to come home. I stopped working full-time and started focusing on my photography. I love to find beauty in everyday life. I am most fortunate to be traveling around the world now, capturing images and telling stories through my photographs.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Without the struggles, none of us would be where we are today. One that comes to mind is not having the luxury to be a full-time mom in their younger years. I have twins that are full grown with families of their own, who are very “photographed”. Time is my biggest struggle at this point, I believe I will ran out of energy and possibly years before I have the opportunity to make experience of all the places on my list.
So, let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Sandra LaForge Photography story. Tell us more about the business.
First and foremost, I am a Visual Storyteller. I am also a wanderer, trying to make pictures of everyday life all over the world. I am known for my creative out door photography.
In addition, I consult on website design, Instagram posts, as well as general marketing materials from a photographer’s standpoint. I have been told that my style is unique, especially when trying to capture the “graphic” elements of a scene.
As I state on my website, “My passion leads me to experience and capture moments that last a lifetime.”
Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and business?
I cannot be for sure, but I believe luck has been on my side. I found my blessings for all I know and been able to grow as a business person.
That does not mean living a good life and being successful was not hard work. Getting up each day, making them count, always trying to do my best at work and at play has been my goal. You cannot sit back and wait for life to happen to you.
