Today we’d like to introduce you to Savannah Martinez.
Savannah, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
It was July 2018, I was in Destin, Florida for a family trip and I received a call from my aunt saying I got into a wedding extravaganza which was surprising to me since I never did a casting to be in one. As time progressed, my aunt continued to tell me she had sent photos of me to a bridal company and that I had gotten the job. Apart from the fact that I was shocked, I also felt slightly overwhelmed considering I had never done anything like that before; however, it was something I had always been interested in. Fast forward, and the day of the show had come and I was extremely nervous. In the moment, I remember having so many mixed emotions, but I could never forget the moment I walked down the runway – I felt empowered and beyond confident, and to be quite honest it was one of the best feelings I had ever experienced.
Since then, I have had the pleasure of working with the beautiful, Erica Colette Lugnani, model coordinator and my personal angel. She has guided me and lead me to where I am today. I could never be more grateful for the things she has taught me, and for that, she will always remain as one of my mentors. Alongside her, I also am grateful for my mother. Throughout this entire journey, she has remained to be my #1 fan and my motivation. My mom guides and pushes me to be better every day, so for both of them I will always be eternally grateful.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
It sounds contradictory of talking about the problem of being beautiful, but the subject is necessary to talk about because beauty is not in fact problem-free, I feel as if many beautiful women are afraid to talk about this because they might come off conceded. But being beautiful isn’t always easy, yes beauty does come with some rewards but not all the time. There are a range of ailments that come with beauty that are not talked about enough. Since I can remember I’ve always been called beautiful, gorgeous, pretty you name it and I can tell you I’ve been called that. Matter of fact it’s one of my biggest pet peeves don’t get me wrong I do like getting complimented on my appearance but not all the time. In some ways, it does get repetitive and I personally believe that there’s more to a pretty face then what’s displayed and not a lot of people understand that. But I’ve learned to accept my beauty as a gift from God, I can say that my looks have definitely opened many doors for me and I’m extremely grateful to be able to have the opportunities that I have at a young age with modeling.
We’d love to hear more about your work and what you are currently focused on. What else should we know?
My personal brand is to spread positivity and self-love because there is no one in this entire world who’s going to love you the way you love your self. Personally, I find being content with yourself beautiful because it shows self-care and love, and God has made us to love one another but you can’t start loving others without loving yourself.
What is “success” or “successful” for you?
I’ve learned numerous life lessons while being a model, and it has made me the young woman I am today. It has shaped me into a very mature young lady and has made me view life in a totally different way. Fashion and modeling are always evolving throughout time, which brings major controversies. But recently, society has been accepting new styles and various body types which give society a different viewpoint of the industry. The entertainment field of modeling is a very silent profession whereas the models are supposed to be seen as a perfect image. As a model, I understand the high standards we are categorized in. So the industry now is very profound and accepting, which is such a beautiful thing. So I would say I’ve learned and grown with the modeling industry the past year in a half.
