Today we’d like to introduce you to Sharron Melton.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Sharron. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I’m a TV News Anchor and been a proud journalist for over 20 years. I’m also a small business owner who does interview training. I started my love of writing as a child, writing my own little short stories. My first experience in media was at my Alma mater Texas A & M University with “AG Net” part of the AG Comm. Network reporting AG news on the radio. I’ve since been honored to work in television in Roswell, New Mexico, Mobile, Alabama, Miami, Florida and proud to be back in my Home State of Texas, and work in Houston. I also love helping people by volunteering and also training young women to improve their interview skills, as competitors in pageants, and searching for jobs, while also building their self-esteem in life. And since I love trying new things, I also have a YouTube Channel, and Podcast Channel called “Sharing the Sugar with Sharron.” I talk with people both famous and not famous, about their lives and the importance of giving back.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
There are always challenges. Sometimes it’s the hours you work, sometimes people you work with can be great, and some maybe not so great. What I learned a long time ago is to stay focused on my goals & surround myself with people who are real and true friends. Those who encourage you and your dreams. Even when others try to interfere in your dreams, don’t stoop to their level. Be polite, and move on!
KIAH-TV/CW39. And. Vocal Wish LLC – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
KIAH-TV CW39 has been around for over 60 years. I joined this amazing television station in October or 2018 and their New Morning Show “Morning Dose “! It’s a Fun, Lively and informative show that gives you Local, National & International news, weather, sports, traffic with a twist of fun! We also have Musical Guests, Food Truck Friday, Wildlife Wednesday and lots of local organizations & business talking with us about their amazing activities.
And as I mentioned earlier, with my Interview Training Business “Vocal Wish LLC”, it’s a pleasure to train competitors in pageants to interview well in anything, and then it helps them for any job they apply for in the future, while building their self-esteem. I’m beyond proud that I’m able to do this to help others, just like others have done for me!
What is “success” or “successful” for you?
Happiness! Am I happy with what I’m doing. I’ve had many opportunities to travel and work. But finding a place that makes me happy and still do my job, while also paying my bills and having a roof over my head, makes a difference.
Also, again, those who surround you! My group of true friends brings me energy and support in life and work! That is a success too! And finally, coming to the realization that limitations and obstacles we often place in our own way, are of our own making. I learned to remove them and not worry about what others, who don’t have my best interest at heart, think about what I do, or hold me back. Don’t allow others negativity or fears to become your own. Support and lift your dreams, to create your success!
