Meet Stephanie Franklin of Franklin Vines

Today we’d like to introduce you to Stephanie Franklin.

Stephanie, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I’m the creator of Franklin Vines. I was born in Lake Charles, LA and raised in Houston, TX. I’m a wine enthusiast, foodie, wine writer and soon to be Vintner. I also run a food and lifestyle blog called eatlovelivehtx. I provide wine content, wine education, wine reviews and I simply wanted to share my wine journey with others. I began my wine journey years ago, but I officially started taking courses in 2018 at The Texas Wine School in Houston. I’m certified in WSET- Wines & Spirits Education Trust levels 1 & 2 and testing for WSET level 3 really soon. As I learned more about wine, I realized that I wanted to start a vineyard and make amazing wine. Many people find wine complicated or they just don’t know how to order wine. Wine is my passion and I want to educate them so that they are comfortable in any setting. Wine depends on so much to have a great outcome. The climate, weather, soil are major factors in producing great wine and much more. Most people do not know that Texas has a wine country and we’re moving up the ladder. Living out my dream is not scary at all. It’s been challenging, but not scary. Starting a vineyard and the upkeep alone is very costly, but that’s not discouraging me. I know things will fall into place. I’ll run into the right investor or I’ll meet someone with acres of land that’s looking for an opportunity. The opportunities are endless. I’m dreaming BIG, but I know it will become my reality.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
I feel like I’m in the begging stages and I know I will have challenges along the way, but I have no doubt that I will find an outcome. I’ve had great opportunities thus far and can’t wait for what’s to come. There’s no traditional route to becoming a winemaker. My next steps are, scouting land for my vineyard, working with a viticulturist, interviewing more winemakers and more!

Please tell us about Franklin Vines.

If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
If I had to start over, I would have started my wine journey sooner! I never knew something could bring me so much joy. Turning my dreams into reality and It Feels Good! Tony Toni Tone!
