Meet Stephanie and Grant Pederson of Urban Air Adventure Park in NW Houston

Today we’d like to introduce you to Stephanie Pederson and Grant Pederson.

Stephanie and Grant, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
For as long as I’ve known my husband, he has always wanted to own his own business. He has the entrepreneurial personality. We both agreed that a business that has to do with kids or fitness would be perfect for us. We were living in Frisco, TX and visited the Urban Air location out their numerous times, including having our son’s birthday there. At one visit, we found out that you could franchise so we inquired. They asked us if we would be willing to relocate to open a park, and we said sure! We moved to Houston in April 2016 and Urban Air NW Houston was opened in October 2016.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It has not been a smooth road, and I wanted to jump ship several times! My husband, luckily, is the more cool and calm one and he knew it won’t be an easy road. we had several deals fall through on locations and it took us over a year to find and secure the perfect spot. We encountered last-minute obstacles with the loan funding that threatened the project. We had unforeseen project costs come up during construction that stretched our budget to the max and when we finally opened, we went a few months with light traffic and low revenue and wondered if we made a big mistake. Once the word got out that we were in business, things turned around and it’s been working well ever since. Thinking about it now, it was worth all the struggles and stress getting here, but at the time it was stressful, and I was ready to give up! Ha!

Please tell us about Urban Air Adventure Park, NW Houston.
Urban Air Adventure Park is an indoor activity park for all ages. We specialize in birthday parties, and we’re known for the diversity and uniqueness of our attractions. We’re more than just trampolines. We offer a warrior course, dodgeball, a battle beam, a tubes system for the younger kids and we’re about to upgrade our park to include the new Warrior Course 2.0 as well as an indoor Sky Coaster and Ropes Course. Do you look back particularly fondly on any memories from childhood?
It’s hard to name just one as childhood is such a great time in life. I’d have to say looking back, that living carefree and playing every day with no responsibilities, obligations, or bills is my favorite memory.
