Meet Stephen Adkisson of Adkisson Group

Today we’d like to introduce you to Stephen Adkisson.

Steve may have founded Adkisson Group (formerly Adkisson Brokerage & Development), but his roots go way back. Starting in the 1940s, his grandfather Milton started a refrigeration business called Adkisson Refrigeration in Lubbock, TX. Thirty years later, Dan Adkisson (Steve’s dad) started an auctioneering business in 1976 called Adkisson Auction and Realty. Wanting to pay tribute to his father, Dan used the same Adkisson Refrigeration logo as inspiration for his new venture’s logo.

After graduating from high school Steve immediately got into the family auctioneering business. In 1988, he got his start in real estate by selling foreclosed homes, and two short years later he started as a broker in commercial and industrial real estate with TNRG (The National Realty Group).

Wanting to concentrate more on industrial development, Steve decided to go out on his own after twenty years at TNRG, and Adkisson Group was born. Continuing the tradition his father and grandfather started, he used their logos as inspiration for his new venture.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Utilizing my professional relationships to establish myself as an independent business owner was one of the easier parts of entrepreneurship. Because we expanded our business operations so much in a 4-year time span, we merged from Adkisson Brokerage & Development to Adkisson Group. As comes with a growing business, we experienced the growing pains of a rapidly successful company. However, we came through the other side as a stronger venture, and continue to exceed our goals every quarter.

Adkisson Group – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
