Today we’d like to introduce you to Stephen Huynh.
Every artist has a unique story. Can you briefly walk us through yours?
Hi I’m Stephen, a destination wedding photographer who was born in Saigon, Vietnam. I loved photography since I studied graphic design at University of Houston. After finishing my education at the University, I start to work with some of other photographers in Houston to improve my portfolio. That gave me a chance to find out my passion in wedding. I launched my company in 2013 and have a chance to work with many lovely couples during their weddings.
After joining Fearless Photographers, a group of all the best wedding photographers in the world, and learning from them, my journalism skill is stepping to another higher level.
Please tell us about your art.
I’m not only a wedding photographer but a storyteller. As a journalism photographer, I learn how to read situations quickly and anticipate moments as well. I learn how to make good pictures no matter the circumstances. I also learn that good photography is often more about good people skills than good camera skills
Whenever I attend at a wedding, I really enjoy documenting those little magical moments away from the main action. People will see me everywhere from the top of the building or under a table. I smile, talk, shake hand with everybody, make friend with them and treat them as my family member. That will help me appear in front of them as a friend and their fear in front of the camera will disappear.
A message from me to all wedding couples: “No pressure! Just enjoy your day! I will take care the best moments for you!”
Choosing a wedding photographer is very difficult. That person will spend the most time with on your wedding day so it is very important to set up a meet up with photographers. You have to ask for a full gallery of their last wedding (around last 2 months), see their album, and discuss the pricing for the last. I always tell my clients go to see other photographers after meet up with me so they know which style they love and fit their budget. Trust me, we are living in America and have to remember one thing “Good Things Is Not Cheap and Cheap Things Is Not Good”
We often hear from artists that being an artist can be lonely. Any advice for those looking to connect with other artists?
I think it depend on the artists. I don’t think I feel lonely now since I have a lot of friends around the world. It’s not hard to make friend. Open your mind, hanging out with people in events around your town, you will feel better then working by yourself.
How or where can people see your work? How can people support your work?
Everybody can visit my website at http://www.stephenhuynh.com. I’m a lazy person who rarely update my website. However, please visit my Facebook at Stephen Huynh Photography, you will see all my newest wedding post over there.
I can’t ask people to support me by coming and book me right away (lol). However, I can show them to how pick a photographer that fit for their wedding.
