Today we’d like to introduce you to Tea Cooper.
Tea, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
As far as I can remember, I have always been an entrepreneur. In school, I would sell candy and cupcakes to my classmates. I mean… seriously, I never paid for gas out of my own pocket. The little part-time job money I was making at Target at the time as a cashier paid for the rest of my needs and wants. I have always been involved in something. You see, I am that person with a mind that is constantly going. I am always challenging myself to do more. I am always thinking of how I can be better as well as serve in the capacity that God created me for. If I can help it, everyone that I come in contact with will walk away with a nugget of information that will carry them forward for a lifetime.
It wasn’t until I went to work for a known global staffing firm that I realized one of my true callings, helping entry-mid level professionals market and brand themselves to hiring managers.
Each time I have an opportunity to speak with a client and give them inside perspective on how marketing and branding yourself for “your” ideal role really works… I GET EXCITED! It’s like magic begins to happen. They present me with a problem and like “Fix It Felix” I help them fix it.
I pride myself on going above and beyond to be an absolute value to my clients. My clients need to walk away from our session feeling like they didn’t pay enough for the service because they have received so much more value than they anticipated.
My clients come to me with all sorts of career-related problems that they expect me to solve. I assist them with solutions to Salary Negotiations, Job Search Techniques, Resume Revisions, Interview Preparation, Networking and Career Mapping to name a few.
We begin our relationship by way of a Free Discovery call. This allows the client as well as myself to vet the relationship. Once I understand the challenge or challenges that my client is facing I present a viable solution on how my services can get them where they want to be, and we get to work. My clients know that I believe in implementation and accountability. Those two are a part of the solution to where anyone wants to be.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
When I think, that I wish, that it were smooth sailing along the way, I am reminded of the challenges that were presented that gave me grit, and continue to make me better. For the longest time, I would try and think of ways that I could pitch myself so that everyone would like me. I had to learn that everyone is not my audience. I naturally resonate with my audience and my target audience doesn’t need me to sell to them; they understand the value of my products and services.
We’d love to hear more about your business.
I am the CEO of Cooper Squared and practicing Interview & Career Strategist. I help mid-entry level professional master the art of interview and career success by teaching them how to market and brand themselves to hiring managers. Unlike other career strategists, I am extremely hands-on. I know that if I hold my clients accountable in their careers they will deliver for themselves.
What are your plans for the future? What are you looking forward to or planning for – any big changes?
It is exciting what’s taking place in the job market right now. People, especially millennial women, have decided to take their career by the reins and control the path. They are making wiser decisions as to what is going to be most beneficial to them in the future.
I am looking forward to helping even more people as I add business development services, specializing in teaching small businesses how to brand and speak the customers’ language.
In the meantime, I want you guys to take advantage of a freebie I have out there for you.

What do you like best about our city? What do you like least about our city?
We run as one! That’s what I love. When tough times arise we are there for each other. We are filled with so much culture, great food, we have a great art scene, and you pretty much can enjoy whatever ambiance your mood desires. There is not much to dislike about this city… well, maybe the traffic. Specifically, 288 South at 5:47 p.m. LOL!
