Today we’d like to introduce you to Tony Braxton.
Photography is special because a person can convey a message with no words and it’ll be just as effective as telling a story, if not more. Tony Braxton, also known as “T-Roc” began telling stories with his camera at the age of 27. He’s captured many different moments and told many stories from the battlefield to the music. He can catch it all with his extraordinary photography skills.
T-Roc is a well-known photographer based out of the Houston area. While specializing in action shoots like concerts and shows, he’s also skilled at self-portraits, & themed shoots. A “ RocShotDat” look is guaranteed to capture the real emotion and feel desired by any and every client. Using his Nikon D7200 for photos and his Sony A7S II for videos, he gives a natural feel with no polish.
T-Roc always knew he’d be involved with music and now he can capture what lyrics cant. His dad was a DJ and he also played the snare drum which helped to enhance the ear as well as the eye in music. Now he’s the No. 1 go to guy on the north for any creative conceptual art. He’s dedicated to his craft and a perfectionist at his best. He’s captured many moments with many different artists such as Tha Natural, OTB Fastlane, Yung Al, Dreadhead Jorge, Slim Thug, Lil Baby, Emg Yung Blaze, JSTEAD, Yung Blu, Boston George Kash Doll Young Jeezy and many many more! T-Roc is still perfecting his craft but he will be sure to capture every moment from start to finish in any project he takes on!
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
No, it was never a smooth road. It’s probably because some of the ride I personally made rough due to me not knowing enough about the business side of things but having the talent as well as a good heart. I was always expecting someone to show me something or take me under they wing to learn or advance and it never worked that way. Everything that I know was self-taught. I had plenty of struggles I’ve dealt with over the years such as: low-quality equipment, not having repeat clients because of how I was handling business and not doing things correctly, failed a countless number of times and failed at leaning the lesson so that I wouldn’t do it again. I took some time off to myself to correct a lot of things before the road started to smooth out. But as of today, the road is much smoother then it was when I first started.
Please tell us about Roc Shot Dat.
My company offers: photography, videography, graphics & design, web design, marketing planning and tools, as well as music production. It’s a kinda 1 stop shop situation here. I specialize in graphics & design. I’m known for photography, mostly because of the accent color photos, I think that’s what sets me apart from others. I am most proud of as a company to be able to help someone else in their journey and mostly helping bring they ideas to life!
Do you look back particularly fondly on any memories from childhood?
My favorite memory from my childhood would be riding bikes with friends and not even knowing what a social media was back then. How we use to find out where the rest of the crew was is because we would ride by each of their houses until we seen all the bikes in one friend’s yard then we knew this is where everyone else is at.
