Meet Tony Glaser of Allusionary Films in Midtown

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tony Glaser.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
It started as a production company between like minded people. Life get’s in the way of what you want to do sometimes and the business fell into my hands alone. My desire to push myself and get it to a new level is my drive. That’s how I’ve gotten far in a very little time.

Has it been a smooth road?
I don’t think the road is smooth in the beginning for any starter business. Especially when you are starting out from square one. Not knowing anyone or having any contacts when you start can really cause some anxiety. If you don’t know where to look it can all slip between your hands. Luckily, with the help of the people I have started to surround myself with, I’m able to see what they are doing and apply that too myself.

So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Allusionary Films story. Tell us more about the business.
We specialize in all aspects of film. Commercial, indie, weddings, etc. We have been known for a quality work. Anyone today can pick up a camera and start doing this business. It’s the ones who produce a great product who get the jobs in the end. I’m happy to say that people are starting to see the great quality we put out. Even if my business failed, I would still be proud of that achievement.

How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
With the recent scandals going on in Hollywood and also the quality of storytelling in their films. I don’t see Hollywood being the major movie force in 10 years. I believe it will all fall upon the indie filmmakers from all over the country to pick up the mantel. Most major blockbusters in the last 3-4 years are all new directors who made one indie film and showed them in Cannes or Sundance. There is a ton of talent out there. Hopefully it opens up and becomes less exclusive to Los Angeles.
