Today we’d like to introduce you to Cheryl Rose.
Cheryl, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I can remember as early as the age of five years old, watching my grandmother walk around the house with the smoky plate while ringing bells – this was my normal. My grandmother was an “Obeah woman” (a Jamaican witch doctor.) I knew the extent of her craft, so I never dabbled into it. She did white and black magic because with Obeah (as it being the most powerful form of any magic,- not even African or Haitian can compare) uses the Bible to perform many of its spells. Almost as if taking on the power of God/Source/Creator/Most High (or whatever you prefer.)
Over the years, fashion fell effortlessly on my lap and had become a major outlet for me until. It wasn’t until the age of 23 that I discovered Crystals and their amazing healing properties. My very first Crystal was Rainbow Hematite. I was instantly drawn to its iridescent colors and gunmetal reflection. Little did I know, it was exactly what I needed, as my Father had just passed and I had just broken my back and wrist. The Crystal is great for both! Not only did it help me deal with the loss of a loved one, but it aided in my depression, bone fractures, kept me grounded and boosted my self esteem. It was all I needed! One year later, I did my very first healing session, unbeknownst. One morning an old friend of mine came over crying hysterically over a cheating ex that she pretty much invested her all into. I put my arms around her to give her a hug and to her “release it.” I held her for about two minutes before she started to let go. That’s when it hit me. I begin to feel every ounce of her pain, to the point my heart and chest felt extremely tight. I pulled her back into the hug like a reflex. I exclaimed “ Oh my gosh, I feel it now, I don’t know what to do!” As we hugged heart to heart I began to blow out my mouth hard ( as if trying to get all the air out.) After about a minute or so I felt the tension leave and I was able to let her go. I was exhausted! I felt like I could’ve very well fainted. By the time of my first healing session I had become quite familiar with crystals and had realized after that experience that I had basically took all of her energy and released it. So, I began using Crystals as seen fit to assist. I also started making crystal jewelry, so I could wear them to stay safe at all times. The more I did the more easy it became.
A year later, I was able to feel where exactly the physical, emotional, or spiritual pain came from without a client telling me. I then began to expand my skills in herbal and energetic healing, aura seeing and tarot and palmistry. Tarot was a bit iffy thing for me as it reminded me of my grandmothers’ domain craft – Obeah, (something I didn’t want much part of). Luckily, Tarot was presented to me by a top astrologist who read my entire natal chart and found them useful to my spiritual expansion. He said I know exactly how to use them and he was RIGHT! Today, at the age of 28, I have my own business, I’ve been doing tarot and palm readings for over three years, I’ve been making custom Crystal jewelry for over four and doing energetic healing for over five years – all while being fashion forward!
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Every road has been a few bumps. For me, those were mostly energetic ones. Not only was I embodying the pain of my clients, but I also was extremely tired, sometimes without even doing a session. I was burning myself out. I found balance regularly standing in the grass to receive the electrons I was constantly depleting myself of through healing sessions. I also learned the power of the word “No.” These two things really sustained me. My advice for those starting out would be to pace yourself. Always work with grounding Crystals and always, always trust your intuition.
Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Raw Roses – what should we know?
As I became more knowledgeable about Crystals and Gems, I also became more educated in herbs, this birthing my ‘Organic 24K Raw Rose’ scrubs. The ingredients were handpicked by myself to provide the ultimate at home healing and cleansing for your body, mind, and soul. I am most proud of the accuracy I provide. (I still amazed myself!) People generally know me as Fashionable Witch, tarot reader, and a local jeweler.
What’s the most important piece of advice you could give to a young woman just starting her career?
Women, naturally, I work yang energy. So, technically, we are all in a position to make a change. What that means is that although yin and yang energy are interdependent upon another, it works in the direction of tradition and storage. While yang works in the direction of expansion transformation. So, when it comes to opportunities, only as we are definitely in the position to make a radical difference when we channel and tune into our yang side. This is the very energy needed to manifest into the physical realm.
