Meet Trailblazer Elizabeth Mize

Today we’d like to introduce you to Elizabeth Mize.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Elizabeth. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I got started 9 years ago by helping a friend of mine with there wedding, just because I love parties and people. I did not know at the time – that is what I was going to be doing. A couple years after that I got an incredible opportunity to work at a venue as an assistant. Before I knew it, I was running the place. It took a lot of hard work but I have found my passion! Planning events, weddings, parties, vendor shows, galas and so much more. I truly love what I get to do! It does not feel like work when you are operating in your passion! Before I knew it, the venue that I have been working at for the last 4 1/2 years had decided to close down. So, I had a choice to go work for another venue or open my own company EM Events. I decided with alot of prayer and friends and family encouraging to go for it. It was so scary for me. I have learned so much! It has not been easy! But hard work pays off. I have full support of my family! So, on hard days, my wonderful husband reminds me why I started this in the first place. Because of my love for people! I genuinely love to help guide and direct them to execute there dream wedding, event, show. I truly love what I get to do!

Has it been a smooth road?
No – it has not been a smooth road for me. Learning business! I had the planning part down, but running your own business is a different ball game. You are the boss! Learning to schedule time off for me was hard. Because there are always things to get done. So, my advice for other young women set healthy boundaries for yourself. You have to learn to say NO to things. Life is a balancing act! Church, family, business, friends. So much more. I am still learning the boundaries. I also recommend you educate yourself. I am constantly learning new things about my business, social media, personalities. Treat others how you would want to be treated!

We’d love to hear more about EM Events.
I plan events! Small events to grand gala’s! Every event, I put my heart into. Taking the stress out of decision making for my client. Guiding them to stay within their budget, but giving them there dream at the same time. I love to operate in excellence. Always trying to do whats best. My drive is to make a unique event for every client. While making them feel like they are my one and only client.

Finding a mentor and building a network are often cited in studies as a major factor impacting one’s success. Do you have any advice or lessons to share regarding finding a mentor or networking in general?
Absolutely! I highly recommend networking groups. I found my local networking group and joined. I also followed several event planners to learn from them. One thing I learned working at a venue is I worked with all sort of vendors. I learned real quick what I did not want.

I love helping women find there passion and connecting them with the right people to help grow there business. There is enough business for everyone. You work hard and do things in excellence and great things happen.
I also have some incredible group of ladies that I surround myself with that speak truth into my life. Ladies that want me to succeed.
