Meet Trailblazer Hannah Wentworth

Today we’d like to introduce you to Hannah Wentworth.

Hannah, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
Hey Gorgeous! I’m Hannah, photographer, creative and stylist at She Authentic. I am a pacific northwest breed and loving my new southern roots.

Art has always been a huge part of my life. As a young child drawing inside the lines was a must, painting all over the canvas was expected and dumping the Elmers glue container all over my hand brought pure enjoyment. From the very minute I held my parents the first digital camera, I was immediately hooked. Life truly has a funny way of revealing things to you. Passions, Dreams, and Inspiration. I feel like for me Photography has always given me the ability to get through every hard day of the last ten years of my life. As a young adult, I experienced very low self-esteem. Like most of the young women I saw then and like most I see today. Every time I picked my camera up, I was able to control and embrace how I saw the world. Through my lens, I was able to create beauty and build up the girls and women around me by showing them just how beautiful they truly are.

I have always known deep down inside that I wanted to make this my career one day. I wanted to work with women of all ages to empower, encourage and inspire. I wanted to help show them that being their authentic self is loved and accepted. In 2017, I graduated with a degree in fine art photography at Everett Community College, in Washington.

My wonderful husband and I moved to Houston in November of 2017 from Seattle. Although I miss home sometimes, I have enjoyed every moment we have been in Houston. It is a city full of diversity, of heart, and inspiring women. The She Entrepreneur is alive, active and thriving here. Many of these inspirational women, I consider dear friends. After many long hours of work, She Authentic was born. Many would say it was only a dream, a thought, and an ambition, but deep down I knew I wanted it to by my reality. So, here I am, Working with amazing women entrepreneurs, embracing brands, and showing that authenticity is the road to success.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
I am a firm believer that it is the twist and turns in the road of life that bring you out a stronger and wiser person. I have had many struggles over the years and have felt like the hill at times just kept getting steeper. I have to keep reminding myself that It’s the great things in life that are worth fighting for. For me, the comparison game is and has always been my Achilles heel. As a creative, our work is very subjective. Due to this, your ability to believe in yourself at all times is needed. No matter what the person next to you is doing, you must keep your eyes locked onto what you feel empowered to create. Through this mindset, I find not only my inner voice but also the directions I need to keep moving forward in my company.

Being an entrepreneur is like being in a marathon runner. You have to have two things, endurance and a little bit of crazy. It is not about how fast your run, it is not about how cool your outfit is while doing it. It is about every single step along the way. All 55,334 steps. I find it easy for me to lose sight of my goals and aspiration. I have to keep asking myself “Why I am doing it” and “who am I doing for?” This helps me recenter and refocus. I encourage you to do the same. Make a game plan, train hard, and get in the race.

Please tell us more about your work, what you are currently focused on and most proud of.
I am a brand and fashion photographer located in the North Houston area. I specialize in working with female entrepreneurs, designers, creatives, and influencers to create new photographs for all branding needs. These photographs are used and are not limited to websites, blogs, promotional materials, social media, etc. As a brand, I am most proud of our ability to be adaptive to the needs of our customers. I love being able to brainstorm with my clients and bring their ideas to life, through location, wardrobe, and inspiration. I am also proud of the culture of self-love and acceptance I have been creating within She Authentic. This is a space where women of all backgrounds find a place and are shown how to embrace every part of who they have been made to be. I believe what sets She Authentic apart is our ability to not only bring out the vibrant personalities of our clients but also mix that with a fresh, fun and fashion-forward feel exhibited in all of our work. In fact, I am so excited about offering a new and innovated service called Social Influencer Society. It is a monthly personal photography subscription for all of your brand and social media needs with a 3-month and 6-month packages. This concept was created to help business owners and influencers develop high-quality content, create social engage and increase their followers.

What’s the most important piece of advice you could give to a young woman just starting her career?
The most important piece of advice I could give to a young woman is “Start.” Start today. Because tomorrow is not getting any closer and yesterday is already gone. Do your research, absorb as much as possible, and immerse yourself in learning your craft. Become the best version of your self and strive to be better each and every day.

I feel like for so many years I lived in doubt and fear of what and who others thought I was going to be. I needed to be bold, be brave and be myself. I needed to be my own biggest fan. Once I stepped out and really embraced myself as not only a woman but also an entrepreneur. The sky was the limit for what and who my brand could be.

I also would encourage anyone out there to have at least four important people that can speak into your life. You need a mentor, a friend, a coach and a cheerleader. Each of these people has been used in my life to keep me moving forward and on track for accomplishing my dreams. Make sure you have yours.

Most of all, I would say, “Be you boo.” No one else better for the job!
