Today we’d like to introduce you to Jacqueline Bunyan.
Jacqueline, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
Since I can remember, I have had a love for fashion. Growing up, my mother and I would take shopping adventures to the Houston Galleria. We would window shop stores like Carolina Herrera, Chanel & Luca Luca. They were all so mesmerizing. I would love her to tell me wonderful stories of Jacqueline Kennedy, Princess Diana and Princess Grace of Monaco. The women behind the fashion have always inspired me in so many ways.
Starting a fashion blog was always a dream of mine but I was hesitant to take the plunge. In June of 2017, my dream came to fruition and A Classic Edge launched. A Classic Edge is fueled by my ever-growing love for fashion; the desire to grow myself as a brand and my hopes to empower women.
Has it been a smooth road?
Starting my blog, a little over a year ago has had its trials. The never-ending journey of gaining followers, exposure, and meeting new people is a race that doesn’t seem to have a finish line. However, I have accepted the challenge and have taken on this exciting venture. In the beginning, I found myself struggling with finding the right words to reach brands that are of interest to me. It can be a daunting task trying to market your blog to a brand with thousands of followers.
For any women who are beginning the blogging journey: Don’t get discouraged! It will be difficult, and sometimes disheartening but continue to push through. Stick to who you are and what you believe in, and I feel good things will come your way.
We’d love to hear more about A Classic Edge.
A Classic Edge is a space for women to go and feel inspired, exhilarated and refreshed. I created my name A Classic Edge because I love to mix styles. I don’t have a specific “go to” look. I love a combination of Kate Middleton and JLo, did I just got there? Yes! I want to empower women to feel feminine and ladylike, while also feeling sexy and fierce. A Classic Edge is my love for fashion, life with my husband and our two fur babes, and our love for our city. We are native Houstonians and we have a strong love for the city of Houston.
I am so proud of where A Classic Edge is today because I was able to create this outlet while balancing my marriage, a demanding full-time job, and social life. I am excited to see where I will be in a year with A Classic Edge. There are so many ideas that I am eager to cultivate.
What’s the most important piece of advice you could give to a young woman just starting her career?
My advice would be to stay true to yourself, seek advice and stay organized.
Stay true to yourself. We all have an inner voice telling us how we feel and guiding us in the right direction. Listen to that voice, she knows a thing or two! You should never try to be someone you are not. Find inspiration, but always be yourself and be original.
Seek advice. Never stop learning, have a mentor you can run to for advice. I seek the advice of my parents on a daily basis. They have experience, knowledge and life lessons that I don’t have. I feel I’ll only grow and learn from their mistakes.
Stay organized. Being organized allows you to keep your business and personal life in order. There is nothing better than being prepared for your day.
