Meet Trailblazer Savannah Fields

Today we’d like to introduce you to Savannah Fields.

Savannah, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
Born in Houston, TX on a cool summer evening a unique individual entered the world. At a young age, both my parents had me involved in the modeling industry, but as time went on it was something that faded along with the many other things I tried doing growing up. Modeling didn’t make its way back into my life until my college years. It was a way for me to not only express myself but also break out my shell. Modeling gave a new found confidence. After doing a couple of shows in college, I graduated with honors with a degree in radio and television. I moved back to Houston and hit the ground running. Every fashion show an opportunity there was I wanted to take. As my name began to spread around the Houston area, it continues to lead me to amazing opportunities. I have walked in New York Fashion Week twice, done a Photoshoot in Puerto Rico, and collaborated with various designers, photographers, makeup artists and hairstyles around the world. Modeling continues to build my confidence and lead me to new opportunities daily and it is something that I can’t imagine not doing.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
The road has been hard and there have been plenty of times that I have been down and out. One struggle, in particular, is with my confidence. At times, I feel like I’m not doing enough and at times I feel I’m doing too much. Life is all about balance and the people that surround me are always there to support and lift me up. If you are struggling just remember diamonds are made with pressure. Your struggle will help shape you into the person you know you are destined to be. Keep pushing forward and surround yourself with those who do support you and your dreams.

We’d love to hear more about your business.
What I am most proud of is being able to go to New York Fashion Week this year. Designer, Rocky Boston asked me to walk for her and I jumped at the opportunity. It had always been one of my many dreams to knock off the bucket list. Going to New York was an amazing experience. I believe my personality sets me apart from the rest. I’m not afraid to cut off all my hair or try a different style. Sometimes you just have a vision and you have to go for it.

So much of the media coverage is focused on the challenges facing women today, but what about the opportunities? Do you feel there are any opportunities that women are particularly well positioned for?
Honestly, women can do anything. I am excited to see more opportunities for women in mathematics, science, and engineering. There are more women CEOs and women who own multiple businesses. That is something that not too long ago you saw and to see it now sets a great example for young women and girls that, yes, there are many many opportunities for us and they are not limited.
