Meet Walker and Maria Williamson

Today we’d like to introduce you to Walker Williamson and Maria Williamson.

Every artist has a unique story. Can you briefly walk us through yours?
I have always had an interest in photography and introduced my wife to it years ago. We had only been able to explore it as a hobby until we were both laid off from a company that we had dedicated almost 15 years of our lives to only to have our jobs outsourced out of the country. As a side hustle we had done a few shoots for friends and family to supplement our income and thoroughly enjoyed it. So much so that instead of opting to go to work for another company again, we decided to strike out on our own and formed Deviant Lens Photography. Since then we have done several private parties as well as commercial photo shoots such as portrait, pet, wedding and other events.

Please tell us about your art.
We are photographers who love to taking many types and styles of photographs to tell a story. Anyone can aim a camera and press a button to take a picture, but there is so much more involved in capturing a moment and telling that story. Photography is the art of capturing light and shadows as well as emotions whether they are the smile of a child or the setting of the sun. As photographers our jobs can vary from composing a scene to convey a message, tell a story or simply to capture a moment in time to preserve a memory so the story never fades for generations to come. Photography is one of the few arts that allows an individual to travel back in time and see people who have lived, events that have occurred and stories that have been told.

What do you think is the biggest challenge facing artists today?
The biggest challenge photographers face is over saturation. The internet is full of images both good and bad, everyone with a camera/phone is posting photos. It’s hard to stand out amongst the crowd,

How or where can people see your work? How can people support your work?
Our business website can be found here at www.deviantlens.com We also have personal portfolios at DeviantLens.Myportfolio.com as well as Facebook and Instagram.

People can support our work by booking sessions with us. We also get work through word of mouth and referrals so sharing our information with others is a great way to also help support our art.
