Today we’d like to introduce you to Wayne Branigan.
Wayne, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
Photobooth Masters of Houston started because I simply have gotten tired of working in the corporate world. I knew I wanted to do something for myself, but fear kept me from pursuing my dreams. The only risks I would take had to be “calculated”, therefore I handcuffed and limited my abilities. I left my career of 19 years and made a substantial investment into Photobooth Masters of Houston. A couple of years prior, I’ve started photography and solicited my services via social media. I knew after I left the company I was working at that I needed to supplement my income. I was constantly telling my wife that I needed to add something else to the photography business, but I didn’t know what. She researched some things and came back with a photo booth.
I was instantly intrigued! I started looking into photo booths and did a SWAT analysis. I told myself, your business can’t fail! The success of my businesses will come from the efforts I put into it. I had to ask myself the question – Are you prepared to do the work involved to ensure your business is a success? I have a strong work ethic, so naturally, I believe that I can pull it off. Dreams can become a reality if you never give up!
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
I’ve had my ups and downs since inception. The biggest challenge is getting the bookings. If you don’t know marketing, learn! Houston is very competitive in this field. I’m not going to let the number of photo booth companies deter me from my goal. I’ve been challenged by really engaging in social media and figuring out my target audience. You don’t have a name in the community at first, so you have to prove yourself to the people.
We started out doing sponsorships and events that yielded little to no revenue. I’m glad we did it because that’s how you get referrals. You get excited when someone sends an inquiry for paid services. It’s a feeling of a high, then you don’t hear back from them and the deflation starts. You still can’t give up! Keep your booth working, continue to do sponsorship, and market continuously, even if you don’t get a lot of engagement. Learn every aspect of your business.
So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Photobooth Masters of Houston story. Tell us more about the business.

Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and business?
I wouldn’t say luck played a role in my life or business. I believe it comes from blessings and hard work. It wasn’t luck that started Photobooth Masters of Houston. I had to work very hard in everything I’ve obtained to this date. Whatever, I didn’t know, I had to learn. In today’s society, the ability to self-teach is at your fingertips. I would say, learn as much as possible at your 9-5 jobs. Don’t look at your job as just a job. You have to look at your job as an institution of learning. Soak up as much as you can while you are there. It’s those experiences that will teach you how to run your business the right way or it will show you what not to do. The old cliché still stands to this day – When you fall off the horse, pick yourself back up and get back on.
