Thanks for sharing your story with us Yaffa. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
The first time I heard about Amber Teething Necklaces was at my New Mom Support Group, the more seasoned moms talked about their miraculous properties and how they turned their miserable babies into happy babies. One of them pointed out a website where I could buy them and that was the first thing I did when I got home. After waiting for almost 10 days to get it, I saw no difference whatsoever in my baby, he was still a teething mess, so I went to Dr. Google to find out why my baby was not responding. After some research, I learned about the importance of the authenticity of Amber. I did the tests recommended and the necklace I bought ended up being just plastic beads.
I set up on the mission of getting my hands on a genuine Amber necklace. After finally finding it I noticed a real change in my miserable baby. That’s when I decided I wanted to help more people get a hold of the real deal with beautiful designs. I knew it wasn’t going to be easy, but I really needed to do this to help other parents, and to prove to myself I hadn’t lost my entrepreneurial edge after Motherhood. After hours of research during my baby’s naps, I found a handful of suppliers and got my project started. My most important goal was to offer the best quality amber and treat customers exactly the way I wanted to be treated.
That is how I took a leap of faith and started my Amber Jewelry business. I come from a family of hard working women who have taught me that it is all about how much love and effort you put into your projects to make them work.
I then found my main supplier was selling the exact same necklace, which was my unique design directly at Amazon for almost half the price. I felt so betrayed and was pretty sure I was going to have to just close out all the merchandise I had left and just look for something else to do, but decided to dig my head in the Seller University to get all the advice I could on how to increase my sales and get out of the bad situation. The whole effort was very time consuming, as I had to start from scratch interviewing suppliers, getting samples, getting the samples tested for authenticity, working on different designs. After almost a month my new line was ready to be sold. Luckily the customers already new the quality of products and customer service I offered in the past and were happy with the new line, all the effort was well worth it.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I have encountered a few hurdles along the way. The first one was being able to communicate with the Amber artisans in Lithuania. Their English was just as bad as my Lithuanian and I would get the exact same opposite designs I had ordered at first which got to be frustrating for both parties. I was able to come up with a system of drawings and graphics naming the designs helped as well.
A while after sales were going smoothly with my new Amazon store, suddenly I noticed a huge drop. Even though I didn’t have too much experience, I knew something was going on, so I started my research to find out what was happening.

Do you look back particularly fondly on any memories from childhood?
My favorite memory from childhood is when my grandparents, who lived in Houston at the time, drove all the way to Mexico City to visit me and stay for a few days in my home. It wasn’t only about the cool presents and toys, it was about spending quality time with them. They were some of my favorite people in the whole world and really enjoyed doing everything with them.
