Today we’d like to introduce you to Yanitza Jimenez.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Yanitza. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
It all started back in December 2017. It was a funny way how I started my channel, my boss back in that year was the person to inspire me to start my youtube channel. Yes, I started like any other person with my iPhone in my what I so called beauty room. Back in that time, it was a walk in closet that I made into a beauty room. Yes, it was hard starting everything from video continent, lighting, and also finding the time since I would work full time. But with time, I worked hard and started to collaborate with companies, got my first cannon camera, and my ring light. I will never forget that feeling when I arrived at work and received my camera! Best feeling ever! After that, I started beauty school, but I honestly felt that the things I was learning were not helping. I felt like I could learn more from youtube, and in the end, I did. School and work weren’t going to be an obstacle for making my dream come true and doing what I love the most. In 2019 my goal was to become an affiliate with my favorite company shop miss a and with all the support from my viewers, I achieved that dream. Now in 2020, I’m proud of what I have achieved along those years. I have my own beauty room now that I work hard every day.Where I can film my videos, do people’s makeup, and thats where all of me is two years into YouTube and social media, I’m still learning alot of things along the way, making new friends and growing my little family because that’s what “we are” a family that loves makeup and I wouldn’t change that for anything in the world! I will never regret starting my channel even though people look at me like crazy out there while I sometimes record in public. I smile and keep going and say its a YouTuber thing.
Has it been a smooth road?
I can’t say it was so easy as a Mexican American people would comment on a lot of bad things from how I speak and how I look. Is hard when you start, and you get all these bad comments. I remember sitting on my sofa, crying and feeling the worst feeling ever! I all wanted was to quit youtube, but at the same time, I didn’t because it’s something I love to do. But with all those bad comments, there are good ones too. People who would love my videos and me for who I am. That’s what kept me going. The love and support from my viewer are it what still keeps me going until this day. Along my journey, I met a wonderful person that helped me behind the camera. From video ideas, photo shoot’s, advice and keeping me strong for things that I felt I couldn’t do. With all these wonderful people, my path has been strong, cheerful, and has made me seen thing’s differently. There is a lot of drama, hate, and also love in the youtube world. Some people can be dramatic and bring gossip, while other YouTubers are friendly and genuine. Never thought things like that could happen, but it does.
Please tell us about your work.
Pretty and pink is a full YouTube channel and also in social media. When I work on clients, most of the time, I will post on social media, or if they want, we will make a video for YouTube while my channel is mainly about makeup tutorials. I focus more on people who are new into makeup or someone who is still learning—trying to give as much detail and help the people that are learning. I love colorful eyeshadows and glitter! So you can be for sure to always find any colorful or glitter eyeshadow videos love colorful eyeshadows and glitter! So you can be for sure to always find any colorful or glitter eyeshadow videos. As a plus size girl, I know how it feels not to feel beautiful. But in my channel, we all support each other and learn together. Being beautiful and proud of who we are! Beauty is art, so we have to express ourselves. I’m proud of just being my self and not someone I’m not. My viewers love that about me, and I love them.
Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
There are two things that I love most about Houston! One being all the malls we have. I love shopping, and with a lot of malls, I can find anything. Second is the food/restaurants, for example brewingz, best wing place ever—a great spot for a family meal. The worst thing I can say is traffic. Heading to work and school can take me up to an hour, which normally on a Sunday it can take me 15-20 minutes.
