Today we’d like to introduce you to Yash Singh.
Yash, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I always wanted to work in the field of fashion or entertainment. I graduated in May from the University of Houston, studying digital media and my plan was to work as a graphic designer once I graduated. Photography was a hobby that turned into a passion and now a career.
I started photography 3 years ago as a hobby and became the photographer for several fashion shows. A year later I started to pursue it part-time, working with models to build their portfolios, and doing portrait photography on the side while I was in school. Being in the most saturated and competitive field of fashion photography, I was wondering how I would make myself stand out.
Especially in Houston, since Houston is still growing in the field of fashion. I decided to try something new and see how it would be working with fashion bloggers/influencers versus working with models or just doing portraits. That decision led me to create a full-time business working with bloggers, and things have been going well since then.
Has it been a smooth road?
So far it’s been a smooth transition from school to working as a fashion blogger/influencer photographer. The clients I work and have worked with are the best.
My work with them gave me the opportunity to stay in the field of fashion and to go NYFW last year and work with other influencers from around the US. http://www.banavenue.com/portfolio/new-york-fashion-week-2017/
So, as you know, we’re impressed with Banavenue Photography – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
I started my Photography business working with only bloggers /influencers. There are not a lot of photographers in Houston that only focus working with bloggers. I now have a fairly large following on social media, and other influencers find me there.
I’m also known for my good communication with clients and quick turn around completing the photos that they need to post, sometimes on tight deadlines. I am most proud of the opportunities I have had to work with some very well know bloggers in Houston.
Recently I also started using videography for some of my clients, to create lookbooks for them. Here are some video lookbooks I created: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sEdqiZ7u3_s, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gYlhqdqa3xc
Last year I collaborated with Pacifica resort in Los Cabos to create video and photos for them. Here is the video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z7oouf8Sx_Q

Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
Houston is an interesting place to work because it is one of the top four cities in population, but the fashion industry is still growing, not as developed and saturated as in New York or L.A. I like that Houston has a variety of styles depending on the neighborhood you’re shooting in. I don’t like the traffic and sometimes the weather is unpredictable.
