Today we’d like to introduce you to Zack Baldwin.
Hi Zack, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I appreciate the opportunity to share my story. I believe one of the most important things in life & entrepreneurship is to connect with and encourage others. With that said, I am proud to share a few things about my life. I am an “OG” Houstonian. I was born and raised among two wonderful parents, both of whom are self employed business owners. From the beginning, I have always wanted to be the “boss”, and be the director of my own life just like my parents.
I am an only child, and from the beginning, I developed a strong sense of independence. I wasn’t a very social kid, and was more interested in doing my own thing. From the time I could stand, golf was a majority of my life. This complemented my personality and ultimately directed the course of my life all the way up until college. I was my high school MVP all 4 years, team captain 3 of 4 years, ranked top 400 in the United States, and placed 3rd in the Texas State Finals. I had plans to play Division I golf, and had many wonderful offers across the country. Part of not having a big social life was because I felt that my only direction in this world was GOLF.
With that came a lot of pressure and uncertainty; as my high school era was beginning to end, I was curious about the world outside of golf. Part of growing up is having that sense of curiosity: I began to wonder, “Well what else is out there?”.
It was almost as if it was a calling, but I decided to put golf on the side, and focus on things outside of it. I went to Texas A&M, where I graduated with an Undergraduate in Economics, and went onto finishing with a Masters in Business (MSB) there as well.
I believe my college years at Texas A&M taught me one strong ultimatum: I always thought that I can do things on my own, my way, my “high-way”. I thought I knew everything and being a bit stubborn, I realized that I don’t and I can’t do this life without others. Your net worth is your network. I learned how to communicate, how to build valuable relationships, and how to help others. I realized that the more people you meet, the more successful you will become.
Right out of college, I dove into the financial and insurance industry. While I learned many important lessons, the most important was that if I was going to do business, I was going to do it right. I saw people cut corners to push sales, and take unethical measures all because of the business pressure. It was always about sales, sales, sales versus truly taking care of people as if they were your own family or friend.
I had another one of those moments: “Well what if?”. What if I started my own Insurance Agency? What if I decided to set the tone of how we are going to do things? With that said, in 2018 I founded my business, TexPro Insurance, and just celebrated my 3 year company anniversary August of 2021.
TexPro Insurance is an independent, insurance agency here in Houston, Texas. I serve customers all across the state of Texas from basic personal insurance to the most complex commercial policies. I am blessed to serve among a diverse group of people, and nothing excites me more than the chance to meet all kinds of people and business owners.
I believe my past of golf, my family, my independency all lead me to saying: “We are going to give this a shot, no fear.” With that, I realized who I was: “I am an entrepreneur. I am a man of business, and making connections.” Golf has only helped me developed those networks, and I realize after all of these years, that everything does come together for a reason.
You have to be willing to accept new levels in your life, and the only way to do that is to have self belief. No one else can believe for you, and trust me they won’t. I look forward to setting and achieving more milestones in my life!
Thank you for allowing me to share a piece of my journey. For any entrepreneur who would like to reach out to me, please do!
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It has not been a smooth road. However, learning to overcome those bumps in the road make you resilient. As they say, “nothing in life that is worthwhile comes easy”. I think there has been an evolution away from facing challenges head on. Instead of pushing through, it seems people these days just want to coast along instead of critically think to solve problems. There is something about facing challenges that gives you this surreal feeling.
In the fact, I think one of the keys to happiness is doing stuff that is TOUGH.
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I founded TexPro Insurance in 2018, and is an independent insurance agency located in Houston, Texas.
We are licensed to serve the entire state of Texas, and have customers all over.
Being an “independent” agency means that I have the ability to serve my customers with various options; we contract we 50+ insurance companies, so that we can truly tailor a policy to your needs at the best price. Most of the time you call or get online for insurance, you are just shopping one carrier at a time.
In addition to just helping customers purchase insurance, we are here to manage for the future. I am a FREE service. We automatically shop your renewal, and if you ever need a policy change or question, we can handle all in-house.
I serve my customers from the most basic insurance needs such as home, auto and life insurance, to the most complex policies. I spend lots of time on the commercial side of insurance and I absolutely love the chance to help all types of small business owners insure their business properly.
What sets me apart, is that I have set the tone of my business to be the highest standard. I believe that for the amount of money consumers spend on insurance year after year, they deserve the highest level of service.
My goal is to always make sure my clients have the coverage they NEED, at the best price we can find. I truly believe in insurance as a financial product when things are done PROPERLY. I want my customers to see the integrity in every policy they purchase, and have the feeling of peace of mind.
If you are in the state of Texas, and feel confused/lost/ not-so-sure about what you’re paying for with your insurance: Give me a call. I would love to help you.
Are there any apps, books, podcasts, blogs or other resources you think our readers should check out?
While there are many books that I think would help an entrepreneur, I would start with one. This book is critical for anyone on the road; it is not an easy route/ -The 4 Agreements.
