Rising Stars: Meet Arlena Nguyen

Today we’d like to introduce you to Arlena Nguyen.

Arlena, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
Honestly, I had no idea what I was getting myself into. One day, my friend asked, “Do you want to do this loan originator course with me?” I love learning, so I said, “Sure, why not?” As I was taking the course, I was thinking…what in the world am I learning. It was all foreign language. Everyone was preparing me about failing, saying, “Don’t be discouraged if you fail. It typically takes people multiple tries. It’s normal. Just don’t give up!” Even with that in the back of my mind, I ended up passing on my first try! I still didn’t know what I was getting myself into, but I figured “hey… I may be really good at this if I had a high score on my exam.”

Eventually, I joined Absolute Mortgage & Lending (AML), and I am still with them to this day. The company culture, teamwork, and work ethic is unbeatable. We all work together day and night to get files closed as soon as possible. Communication and fast turnover time is extremely important to us. I wouldn’t be where I am today if I didn’t have such an amazing team.

Besides working for such a supportive company, I am also grateful that my first year was a breeze because my mom is a realtor in Florida. I like to call us mother-daughter dream team. My first year could have been a struggle, but since she was killing it in the industry, she helped my first year go by smoothly. And by the second year, I made one of my biggest goals: To reach top 10 at AML. It’s all thanks to referrals from realtors, family, friends, and clients. I also try to attend as much networking events as I can.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
There have definitely been bumps in the road. It’s important to stay creative. If something doesn’t work, I figure another solution to make it work. Everyone’s situation is different. So naturally, every file is different. Every solution is different. This industry isn’t the easiest, but the high score in my exam was right! I turned out to be really good at what I do. This industry definitely keeps me on my toes, but I love it, because who loves a boring job?

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar, what can you tell them about what you do?
I am a loan originator with Absolute Mortgage & Lending. We specialize in traditional loans, non-traditional loans, and commercial loans. Traditional loans will be Qualified Mortgages (QM) such as Conventional, FHA, VA, etc. Non-traditional loans will be Non-Qualified Mortgages (Non-QM) such as 12 Month Bank Statements, DSCR (debt service coverage ratio), No Ratio, etc. We have many programs for all types of borrowers. If someone is having difficulties qualifying one way, we can always try another route.

I am most proud of AML’s turnover time, options in loan programs, and work ethic. AML has closed many loans in 7 days (which is the minimum days allowed to close for QM.) If someone needs to close as soon as possible, we will work on closing as soon as possible. We believe communication is key so we keep our clients and realtors updated during the process. We work hard to make it as smooth as possible for our clients. A team like that is hard to find.

Alright, so before we go, can you talk to us a bit about how people can work with you, collaborate with you or support you?
I would love to work with anyone who is looking to buy, build, or renovate. I’m always open to collaborate on making videos for social media.
