Today we’d like to introduce you to Daniel Marcotte.
Hi Daniel, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I grew up in the swimming pool business. My father owned two retail stores that specialized in service and repair. I grew up behind the counter, helping customers, testing water, etc. As an adult, I started my own swimming pool company, primarily focused on swimming pool construction.
Our company now focuses on service, repair, renovation, and new construction. I’ve been in this business for over 40 years, so I have a wealth of knowledge that I look forward to passing on. My sons are graduates of Texas A&M University. They along with another college friend, are starting to get involved in the family business and I look forward to them taking over the helm eventually.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It has not always been a smooth road. The economy has impacted various phases over the years, causing us to focus more on service and repair or new construction based on what people can afford. We’ve found a healthy mix between the two. I’ve been fortunate in that I’ve been a part of this business for many years and I also have cousins and siblings in this business. I’ve always had a great support system to turn to with any questions. I feel very much in my element in the pool business and there isn’t much I feel that I can’t tackle. It’s a comfortable place for me and I enjoy teaching others about this industry.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I studied Bible Theology in college and my real desire was to become a pastor. This didn’t come to fruition but I still enjoy studying the Bible and I try to model my life and my business by following Christian principles.
Have you learned any interesting or important lessons due to the Covid-19 Crisis?
I think it’s very important to offer safe and sterile services to our customers. There was an increased focus on this with the Covid-19 crisis and it’s important not to forget. Clean, safe, water is certainly our priority. We want your pool to be a safe place for your family and friends.
