Today we’d like to introduce you to Elizabeth Jarvis.
Hi Elizabeth, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I began singing at church at the age of 13 and being fascinated by music from an even younger age. I was a shy girl with awful stage fright, I decided to join several competitions as I got older in order to lose my stage fright and placed in every single competition. Not only did I join competitions to lose my stagefright but I also would stand on a corner every Saturday where the prostitutes and drug addicts of the city were located, and would sing loud for all to hear. I’ve had the privilege to travel to different cities, states and even countries to bring my music. Music is my passion and a huge part of who I am. As a songwriter, I am able to tune in with my emotions and create music that inspires and encourages others. I recently switched to more of the urban world to make urban music that still has a positive message. My stage name is Ellie Jai and I’m super excited about the new projects I’m working on to share with the world.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Pursuing music has not been an easy journey. It’s hard to meet goals when you’re counting on producers to have your beats done on time. There have also been producers who don’t reply to you after you give them a deposit and end up stealing your money. Another struggle I’ve faced has been how expensive it is to create music from promoting it, to shooting music videos and all of the other components. Being a single mom, it’s hard sometimes to invest into my music, but I also do this for my son.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am a singer-songwriter. I make music that inspires, uplifts and encourages others.
Is there a quality that you most attribute to your success?
A successful person needs to have integrity, motivation, persistence, determination, and discipline.
