Rising Stars: Meet Shaune Stauffer

Today we’d like to introduce you to Shaune Stauffer.

Hi Shaune, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I started modeling in junior high school. Model agent Page Parkes came to my school to give a talk on the modeling industry and she asked me to bring my mom and come meet with her at her office. I signed my first contract that day and then the following summer went to Japan. My very first paid job in the US was for Blue Bell Ice Cream. I also went to Los Angeles for several years and worked out there. I even got an acting part on Days of Our Lives for NBC

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
The modeling business is extremely challenging so you have to be at the absolute top of your game all the time. You never know when somebody will call, or when someone will need a model for a shoot or a show at the very last minute. The worst thing that you can do is be unprepared when you get an amazing opportunity. It’s a rough business sometimes because there is a lot of rejection, but you just have to remember that not everyone is going to love you but there are a lot of clients and brands that will. You need to be thick-skinned and can’t get easily discouraged.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
The wonderful thing about my job is that you can grow with the career. I started out as a young teenager, and now at this point in my life, the modeling business has blossomed in to a whole new niche— I am modeling for companies on social media, and preparing my own content for different brands. The explosion of the Internet, it’s giving models a whole new direction to grow. In my industry, to make a good living, you have to do it all; print work, runway, social media content, TV commercials, and even acting gigs if you can get them.

Do you have any memories from childhood that you can share with us?
My favorite childhood memory is visiting New York and seeing the fashion shows for the first time. I knew then it was what I wanted to do. Today, it’s an absolute dream come true when I walk down a New York runway and see photographers from every magazine in the world shooting pictures. Sometimes I walk off the runways blinking through tears because I can’t believe I made my dreams come true with nothing more than determination. You can do anything you want to do!
