Today we’d like to introduce you to Sierra Alston.
Hi Sierra, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I was always intrigued with the development of things. I have indulged in several areas of real estate and construction over the years. However, civil construction is what I fell in love with; it’s what I understood most and what I am drawn to.
We all face challenges, but looking back, would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Being in a male dominating industry where you are expected to know everything regarding your division and sometimes expected to have just as much experience as my male counterparts, it is much harder to prove yourself and earn your way to the top. Majority of the time, I am in a room filled with men, and I have to maintain a presence as a CEO of a civil firm as well as a minority one. Having men work for me, I am often tested in my ability to lead the pack.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I am a CEO of a full civil construction firm. Our firm offers underground Utility installation, Site Work, and Concrete services. We are known for our ability to “make a way.” We have been able to stand the test of time by tackling any challenge that has come our way and being able to withstand those challenges and grow from them. We appreciate the importance of client relationships. Our commitment to safety is clear from commitment to staff training and proactive and continual improvement of practices, processes, and resources.
