Rising Stars: Meet Yaahn Hunter Jr

Today we’d like to introduce you to Yaahn Hunter Jr.

Hi Yaahn, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I started playing drums at my father’s church, New Faith Cathedral C.O.G.I.C. at the age of eight. In 2005, I was featured on Gospel Chops at the age of 14 showcasing the “Triple Back Beat” which has accumulated over 1 million views. I also started playing the piano and organ at the age of 14. Music production became my new passion at the age of 15. I started recording my own songs using the: Roland D-20 Synthesizer and Dr. Rhythm 880 Drum Machine. In 2008, I was accepted into Berklee College of Music on a $12,000.00 Scholarship. I graduated in 2012 with my BA Degree in Music Production & Engineering. I currently run my own business, Yhuntermusic Productions. I’ve had the great opportunity to produce for: The Walls Group, Naomi Raine, Geneen White, Annale’ and many more phenomenal artists. Last year, 2020 was a major wake up call with the surprise attack of COVID-19… It propelled me to become a full-time YouTuber (Content Creator). It also pushed me to start my E-Commerce website yhuntermusic.com. I have a serious passion for content creation and helping others succeed in the music game.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
It hasn’t been a smooth road at all! I’ve dealt with bad business deals, scrutiny and many lonely seasons. I’m the only person in my family that runs a music business via social media. A lot of people told me, “you need to get a real job”! I doubted myself for a long time hearing those words…

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I’m an Artist, Music Producer, Content Creator and Business Owner. I specialize in content creation, music production, mixing and mastering. I’m known for being a drummer, keyboardist and music producer. I’m also known for producing The Walls Group’s single, “Friend In Me”. I’m most proud of pursuing music production because it set me apart at a very young age. My ear gravitates towards Billboard Top-100 quality records. I pride myself on producing high-quality records and content for social media.

What has been the most important lesson you’ve learned along your journey?
The most important lesson I’ve learned is to GIVE! When I started getting serious about my YouTube Channel and my E-Commerce business, I took on the heart of giving. Giving has unlocked so many doors for me!
