A Calling to Serve: Amb. Mercy Ifeanyi Nwachukwu’s Mission to Uplift Africa Through Compassion and Collaboration

For Amb Mercy Ifeanyi Nwachukwu, humanitarian service is not simply a career—it is a lifelong calling that began in childhood. Growing up with a deep sense of responsibility for others, she carried that spirit of service from her family and community to a broader mission across Africa and beyond. Through mentoring, motivational speaking, media work, and initiatives like Mercy Aid for Africa, she focuses on poverty alleviation, education for girls and women, and support for vulnerable communities. Now seeking global partnerships and collaborations, Nwachukwu aims to expand her humanitarian reach while using television and documentary storytelling to preserve real stories of resilience—ensuring that compassion, service, and empowerment continue to inspire future generations.

Amb Mercy, thank you for joining us — you wear many hats as a motivational speaker, missionary, mentor, and television talk show host. What personal experiences led you to focus your work on motivation and humanitarian service?
Yes, I wear many hats and wear different faces in my call for charity works and humanitarian services. I also serve as a speaker, mentor, entrepreneur, television talk show host, missionary, and Business Development Consultant. My motivation comes passionately from my heart and mindset. I can say it’s a calling that started driving my interest and moulding my personality from the age of seven. I started being selfless since I was a little girl, I grew up serving people and helping out with no charges nor reward from people, especially to my family. I was the servant to everyone, I obeyed and respected everyone and I served others making sure everyone around me was pleased and okay then it extended to my neighbourhood and extended family then my community and state and then my country and finally my other African nations then it has now become a global service from me to people of the world. I saw the need to render a helping hands wherever I find myself as a touch of humanity to impact others and also give voice to the voiceless, support the poor and needy, help the vulnerable and touch lives generally with the little resources. I have like feeding the hungry, sheltering the homeless, clothing the naked, encouraging the lonely and heart broken, mentoring and teaching the ignorant even giving to the poor and I don’t intend to stop as the earth is my horizon and I will keep serving the course for humanity till I die and exit the surface of the earth then my legacy will speak for me that I actually was here on earth and I lived and I came and I saw and I conquered.

Your missionary and humanitarian efforts are especially centered on Africa. What current projects are you working on, and what impact do you hope they will have on the communities you serve?
My missionary and humanitarian works and services with utmost effort is actually centred on Africa and this is because they say charity begins from home. I am a proud African and I believe in the power and empowerment of Africa and Africans this is because we are developing nations and we have a lot of population of people especially those who are vulnerable amongst us they need a lot of support morally, mentally and financially then other aspects of empowerment follow suit. Africa is a growing continent with so much diversity and culture with different religious beliefs and differences in languages. We need much support and creation of awareness through education and learnings and this I have chosen to do in my own capacity as a mentor and an entrepreneur. I focus strongly on alleviating poverty and empowering people through education especially the girl child and women at large.

Currently talking about projects and the new empowerment programs I have, I would say in my humanitarian services I have indulged and carried out various programs for women and the vulnerable and then the elderly and people at large spanning through communities and other African countries. But now I am in the western countries seeking partnerships and foreign collaborations in other to continue with my course for humanity and hoping to gain publicity and attract great collaborations that will help to financially and morally support the projects I have on ground to expand my reachout to the needy and vulnerable and local people in Africa.

My most current project is named Mercy Aid for Africa a hope project for the poor and needy in (Nigeria) Africa and this is ongoing and I am currently seeking financial support and foreign grants and partnerships with my call out to individuals and philanthropies who wish to reach out to people in need in Africa.

This project is huge and requires great focus and time and energy and finance with great passion of love and humanity with a touch of deep knowledge and passion from people of good heart willing to render humanitarian services from all works of life and all parts of the world, I require people to collaborate with me, partner with me and also volunteer with me to execute this mission.

This project will go along way to unite and showcase inter cultural values and relationship with people from different countries and it will help to cement the relationship between people from different countries and culture and values. I intend to impact people from different African communities and nations and then in Western cultures so that people can relate and share humanitarian experiences and interactions with each other focusing directly on the poor and needy and vulnerable people in Africa.

As a mentor and motivational speaker, what core message or values guide the way you inspire individuals to grow, lead, and give back?
As a mentor and motivational speaker the core value message and values that guide the way I inspire individuals to grow and give back is embedded on what I portray and give out to the people and community around me and in diaspora. I have always led by my good examples I always preach and represent love and care and charity using all. I have to sacrifice for the needy and vulnerable as an ambassador for the needy the poor the girls child and women. I also represent Africa as a mentor and an entrepreneur. I also work and strongly advocate as a missionary and servant of God, I have always believed and worked for humanity and also I believe in dedication to positive works and integrity with great respect for due process and patience in resilience. I am very dogged and selfless with a great touch of truth and firmness in achieving goals and objectives. I strongly speak on positivity and optimism with respect to existing rules and values that stand as guidelines for societal progress and growth.

Finally, I always focus on mentoring youths and women to believe in themselves and respect societal values even while they create values for themselves. My goal and aim is to empower and impact positively with deep sense of belonging and moral support to the people through humanity project and courses.

You’ve shared your desire to collaborate globally. What types of partners are you looking to connect with, and how can collaboration strengthen your humanitarian and media initiatives?
I have been in this humanitarian mission and missionary course for over two decades, and I have been the sole sponsor for every mission and project of humanitarian and charity work. I render to the people, I have dedicated my youthful life serving humanity with all my resources both cash and kind. I have given more than I have to the people and the needy with little or no assistance from the government or even other non profits nor philanthropies hence I have to extend my horizons by moving through my humanitarian and missionary work to the western countries where I currently have started building partnership and calling for collaborations from other non profits, missionaries and humanitarian who may be interested to collaborate with me and my non profits and missionary group in other to expand & reach out to more needy communities and vulnerable people in Africa especially in Nigeria.

I strongly believe there are individuals and organizations seeking to sincerely partner with a prestigious organization as mine in other to reach out to people in need in Africa. I am also seriously searching and hoping to meet with prestigious organizations who are ready and open to collaborate. I want to meet with organizations that does similar work as I do and is ready to partner with me. We can develop and work on projects and through the power of the media, we can globally touch lives and reach out massively to the people in need and also make out quality documentaries that will be used in future projects for the young ones and next generation making historic discoveries and documentaries that can be kept in archives, learning institutions and media spaces and platforms for helping others and the next generations.

Looking ahead, how do you plan to use television and documentary storytelling to expand your mission and bring greater visibility to humanitarian work?
Looking ahead for me is like saying tomorrow and also referring to the future and that future is now, whatever I do today stands for history tomorrow hence my plan to use the television and documentary story telling to expand my mission and bring greater visibility to humanitarian works is because this if achieved and when achieved will become a ground for the younger ones and next generation to thread on as a pathway to learning and development for humanity and growth in personality and social integration with one another. Also to display unity, love and understanding, the media will help to preserve the works we showcase today and the documented work will serve as a learning tool for the future and next generation.

Conclusively, my vision and mission that started since over two decades is to make sure I continue with my humanitarian services while evolving and making an impact on people and the community, expanding through other countries globally via learning and sharing experiences and ideas by educating and empowering others through mentorship and entrepreneurship. I plan to set up hope projects that will develop minds especially the vulnerable minds with great touch of humanity works such as skill acquisition, educating, training, poverty alleviation, and health talk shows to improve healthcare among the needy and local people developing and shooting documentaries from true life experiences and telling stories that will touch lives and impact lives for better living and creating atmosphere for conducive society in Africa and the the world at large.
