Beyond Placement: Lindsay Maxwell-Stewart on Redefining Executive Support Through Concierge-Level Recruiting

Lindsay Maxwell-Stewart is expanding the scope of executive search by transforming Alexander Recruiting into a more holistic, relationship-driven experience with the launch of Beyond the Boardroom. Recognizing that placement is just one step in a leader’s journey, she’s building a concierge-style model that supports executives through transition, integration, and long-term success. By blending high-touch service with deep industry insight, Lindsay is helping organizations and leaders move beyond transactional hiring toward more intentional, personalized, and sustainable leadership outcomes.

Lindsay, you’re expanding Alexander Recruiting while launching Beyond the Boardroom. What inspired this evolution from traditional executive search into a more holistic, concierge-style model of support?
The evolution really came from my firsthand experience supporting executives through transitions. Placement is just one moment in a much larger journey, and I began to see how many leaders were navigating relocation, onboarding, family transitions, and new environments without the level of support they truly needed.

At the same time, Alexander Recruiting has been intentionally expanding its footprint, including the introduction of a dedicated General Manager vertical focused on hospitality and service-driven industries. As we continued to grow, it became clear that the way we support leaders needed to evolve alongside the types of roles and organizations we serve.

As a Certified Concierge Professional and an Endorsed Business Partner with the National Concierge Association (NCA) (https://www.ncakey.org/), service has always been at the core of how I operate. That perspective naturally led to the creation of Beyond the Boardroom, which we are launching as a new division of the business.

Beyond the Boardroom was designed to close the gap between placement and long-term success. It allows us to extend our support beyond the offer and into the full leadership experience, ensuring executives are not only placed, but truly supported as they transition, integrate, and lead.

To formally introduce this new vertical, we are hosting an exclusive launch event on May 7th at The Houston Club, bringing together leaders across hospitality, business, and service-driven industries for an elevated conversation on leadership and support.

Alexander Recruiting is known for its high-touch, relationship-centered approach. How does that philosophy change the experience for both clients and candidates compared to more traditional recruiting firms?
We approach recruitment as a relationship, not a transaction. That means we take the time to understand the full picture, not just the role, but the organization’s culture, leadership dynamics, and long-term vision, while also getting to know our candidates beyond their resume.

For our clients, this results in stronger alignment and more successful placements. For candidates, it creates a more thoughtful, supportive experience, where they feel guided, respected, and genuinely considered.

Our concierge background naturally elevates that experience. There is a level of care, discretion, and personalization that is not always present in traditional recruiting, and that difference is often what leads to stronger outcomes on both sides.

You’re introducing a new General Manager vertical focused on hospitality and service-based industries. What are organizations in these sectors looking for in leadership right now?
Organizations are looking for leaders who can deliver both operational excellence and elevated service experiences. There is a strong demand for General Managers who are strategic, adaptable, and deeply grounded in people leadership.

Across hospitality, hotels and resorts, restaurants, private clubs, and other service-driven environments, organizations are prioritizing leaders who can strengthen culture, improve retention, and create consistent, high-quality experiences for both teams and guests.

There is also a growing need for leaders who can navigate change, maintain stability, and lead with both confidence and empathy in fast-paced environments.

Beyond the Boardroom is centered on supporting leaders beyond just placement. Why is it so important to focus on the full transition, integration, and long-term success of executives?
A successful placement is not defined by an accepted offer; it is defined by long-term success and retention. The transition period is one of the most critical phases of leadership, yet it is often the least supported.

When leaders are navigating relocation, new environments, and organizational dynamics, even small challenges can impact their ability to fully step into their role.

Beyond the Boardroom focuses on removing that friction. By supporting the full transition and integration process, we help leaders show up more grounded, more focused, and more effective, which ultimately benefits the organization as well.

You’ve built your work at the intersection of recruitment and concierge-level service. How do you see the future of executive hiring evolving as organizations place more value on personalization and experience?
Executive hiring is shifting toward a more personalized, experience-driven model. Organizations are beginning to recognize that attracting and retaining top talent requires more than a competitive offer; it requires a thoughtful, intentional experience from the start.

I believe the future will continue to move toward high-touch, concierge-style support where recruitment, onboarding, and transition are more closely aligned. There will be a stronger emphasis on care, connection, and the leader’s overall experience, not just on the placement itself.

This approach not only enhances the candidate experience but also leads to stronger retention and more impactful leadership outcomes.
