Today we’d like to introduce you to Megan Alarid.
Megan, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
My passion is helping business and communities thrive. I have the opportunity to live that passion every day by helping Business Owners crystalize and achieve their vision. I do that by helping to implement a system, the Entrepreneurial Operating System®, into their organizations. This is a complete, proven system, that is full of simple, practical tools that help to get the entire organization on the same page with where they are going and the discipline and accountability to make it happen. By implementing this system, the business has the ability to thrive and so do the employees.
With just about 20 years in the Staffing Industry and as leader of several different businesses, I have a great understanding of the people side of business and going beyond just the matching of skills to a job description. I have always focused on the full environmental match of the employer/employee relationship. Beyond the skills and going deep into the culture, climate and overall environmental match. With this understanding, I felt there was still something I was missing. It wasn’t until I was working within the EOS® system that I truly understood what it was.
I understood the disconnect to be the ability to see a vision that wasn’t crystal clear, and that wasn’t yours per se, and then to work as hard as possible to make that vision reality. I understood that this is the missing piece in a lot of businesses. I fell in love with EOS and how it helps business owners get what they want by helping to clarify and share their vision, while also creating accountability (something that was also missing) to achieve it.
As the Sales Leader of a larger staffing company at the time, EOS changed my perspective on leading my organization, helping my clients lead theirs. EOS helped me understand my teams better and helped them understand me. I was able to make good, strong choices for the organization that helped it stabilize and grow even. It was my experience with EOS that I knew I had to share it with as many people as possible.
Three years ago, I started my own implementation practice in the North Houston area, Heightened Leaders. Heightened Leaders serves Montgomery County and the surrounding areas, and I am fortunate to assist business owners achieve their goals. Ultimately, Heightened Leaders helps business owners and their team make a giant impact on the world and help the community thrive as a result!
Personally, I am a wife, mother, and step-mother. Our three boys are most important to my amazing husband, Chris, and me. Everything we do has their interests at heart! We enjoy a lot of time at the baseball field, whether we are watching, cheering or volunteering.
Outside of our family and my EOS Life, I am the Co-Chair for the The WIT Network:Houston, a member of the Dream Team for the Ellevate Alliance, a diplomat for the Woodlands Chamber, a founding member for the Houston Executive Advisors group, a member of all the local Chamber of Commerce organizations in Montgomery County and a member of the Leadership Montgomery Class of 2019.
Additionally, I lead various roundtables and lead great discussions and keynotes on Organizational Health, and Leadership.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
The reinvention of oneself is never an easy road. You have to figure out a lot to make it happen. However, when you are aligned with your passion and you share that passion with as many as you can, the road smooths itself out. The community I surround myself with is beyond incredible. All of those around me share the passion of helping others thrive, with that, they are always there to help. That community is made up of my family (of course), my friends, those who support the local business community and all around!
The reinvention, as I call, can be difficult for anyone but it is something entrepreneurs deal with day in and day out.
We’d love to hear more about your work.
Heightened Leaders is an EOS Implementation Practice. My sole focus is on helping Business Owners learn a system that can help them achieve their vision. EOS is a complete, proven system made up of simple, practical tools and is designed to get you three things: 1. A crystal clear vision shared by everyone in your organization, 2. The discipline and accountability, or Traction(r), to make that vision reality, and 3. A healthy working environment that is open and honest, transparent and focused.
I work with Business Owners and their teams who are frustrated and want help fixing those things that are holding them back. They usually have 10-250 employees and are looking to grow.
I am most proud of the transition that happens during the process where the clients move from a team of leaders to a leadership team. There is something that happens at that point where it just clicks and momentum builds and, in turn, revenue builds. It is a great realization.
What sets me apart boils down to my ability to understand the inter-workings of the team, down to the emotional intelligence factors, and really helping them get to the heart of where they are going. They making sure they are focused to achieve it.
What were you like growing up?
I was an introvert with a few extroverted tendencies. I may still be classified this way. My family and friends meant (and still do) the world to me and I would be there for them no matter what.
I enjoy the beach and really any warm-weather activity.
