Check out DeAndrea Carroll’s Artwork

Today we’d like to introduce you to DeAndrea Carroll.

DeAndrea, we’d love to hear your story and how you got to where you are today both personally and as an artist.
I didn’t expect to become a photographer when I was younger. I wanted to become a fashion designer honestly. I wanted to work in the fashion industry because I love fashion. But I took a picture of my school’s playground around 2008, I believe, with my camera phone and got many compliments on it on Myspace. That picture made me want to start photography. I started off taking pictures of landscapes and nature around 2009-13, but I started taking photography seriously in April of 2014. That’s the month and year I had my first senior shoot. That is also the year I started doing portrait photography. I was in Robertson County area at the time as well. In 2016, I moved here to Houston with my boyfriend and got into fashion photography. My main Instagram (@deandreacarroll) is full of fashion photography and my other one (@deandrea.images) is full of different portraits and street photography. So my life as a creator have changed a lot so far and I feel like it will continue to change from here on out.

We’d love to hear more about your art. What do you do and why and what do you hope others will take away from your work?
Well I’m a photographer. I don’t just take pictures of people, I create memories as well. I do fashion photography, portraits, senior, lifestyle, street photography and more. I also do iPhone photography for my Insta stories. I do photography because I love it honesty. I love to create a mood/feeling with my art and catching special moments/details. Being creative is what I do best in my opinion. What I want people to take away from my art is that every photoshoot/shot should be unique and that having different editing styles is okay. Not every photoshoot has to have the same edit.

How can artists connect with other artists?
I would say engage with other artists in your community. Comment and like their post or reply to their Instagram stories. You could go to events and meetups to meet other creatives and network. You just have to get involved within the community.

Do you have any events or exhibitions coming up? Where would one go to see more of your work? How can people support you and your artwork?
People can see my work on Instagram (@deandreacarroll or @deandrea.images), Facebook (deandreaimages), and Twitter (@yodeandrea). You can support my work by liking, commenting, and retweeting my work on social media. You can also share my work on your Insta stories and on Facebook.
