Today we’d like to introduce you to Jordan Knight.
So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I have always been a person who likes to capture the moment. Don’t get me wrong, I enjoy living in the moment but there is something about being able to actually relive that moment through a picture or video that really brings me joy.
Despite the joy that this brings, I never thought it would be something that I would end up turning into a reality today!
I studied electrical engineering at Oklahoma State University. In college, during spring and winter breaks, I was typically at home bored so I would make videos of myself talking about random topics that came to mind using my laptop camera and edit them with Windows Movie Maker. Then, I would post them on YouTube. I could never stay consistent once school started back up and I thought it was weird hearing and seeing myself on the videos. This might have been one of many signs that I should be behind the camera instead of in front. Ha.
In 2013, I moved to Houston to work for an Oil and Gas company where I’ve been employed for 6 years and worked in various roles. It was at this point that I could begin to take some trips with my friends! As I began to travel with friends on various vacations, I caught myself constantly trying to capture everything on my phone via the phone’s camera and video along with snapchat and Instagram. It was becoming a thing for my friends to ask me for certain footage because it was very likely I had captured almost everything.
Even though I was always capturing the moments on my phone, it wasn’t until May of 2017 that I decided to get a camera. I had spoken to a few friends that were into photography and video, and with their help, I was able to make a selection on my first real photography camera which was the Sony A6300! I have googled a ton of things about photography and videography and watched a ton of YouTube videos. I have to truly thank my fellow photographer friends for not getting frustrated with all of the questions I would have for them about my camera, lens, editing software, etc.
Every day after work, when possible, I would play around with photo editing and on weekends I would ask friends to take photos.
There is a lot more to this story but in January 2018, KnightNDayVisions became an official business and I am truly blessed to be where I am today. I am continually growing.
Has it been a smooth road?
This has definitely not been a smooth road by any means. I wouldn’t use the word “struggles” but there have been many challenges and learning opportunities along the way. One challenge has been narrowing down what I truly love to shoot and making those types of photos and videos my main focus. Another challenge, which I can say is self-inflicted, is the speed in which I make certain decisions. I have learned to slow down and move at a pace that works best for me. I am constantly learning from every challenge that comes my way.

KnightNDayVisions is all about capturing the moment! For the photography area of KnightNDayVisions, I am most known for portraits, business promotion photos, graduation photos, small family photos, and maternity photos. For the videography area, I am most known for 1-minute Instagram business promotion videos, which has included a blog, lifestyle, hair, fitness, short rap tales, and event recap videos.
I love it when I can bring my client’s vision to reality. That is what makes me most proud.
I cannot say what sets me apart from others. I can only say what I bring to the table and that is a genuine business. This is a passion of mine so I am going to give every opportunity 100% effort.
Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
I love the diversity of Houston. I love how things are spread out to where it feels like multiple cities in one. I love that there are so many hidden gems! I constantly drive past potential photoshoot locations. The tough part is remembering to save the location in my Google Maps. The only thing I dislike is the constant highway construction work going on. It seems never-ending.
