Today we’d like to introduce you to Raigan Harris.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Raigan. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
As long as I can remember, I was always involved in activities dealing with the arts. It’s been a part of who I am since I was a mere child at the age of three, performing songs in front of Destiny’s Child member Letoya Luckett in my grandmother’s living room. When I was in Kindergarten, my parents signed me up for my first musical and I’ve been hooked ever since. I started acting and modeling professionally when I turned fourteen. My parents wanted to give me the opportunity to decide for myself whether I wanted to really pursue acting and modeling professionally or if this was just something I viewed as a hobby. In my later years of high school, I started participating in pageants to build my self-esteem and won Miss Bay Area Teen 2011. With this title, I was able to make a difference in the Clearlake and Houston communities, but I knew deep down that participating in pageants wasn’t my calling. After a few years of college, with the help of my parents, I decided if I really wanted to give my acting and modeling career a fair shot I would need to relocate to the place I now call home; Los Angeles, California. I moved to Los Angeles about a year and a half ago, and in my short time here, I’ve been blessed enough to be able to work with major networks such as Freeform, ABC Studios, CBS Studios, E! Network, and many more! My most recent job was for the hit series Grown-ish and it was truly an honor and joy to meet the entire cast on set and work side by side with them. I’m truly blessed to have the privilege of being able to follow my dreams and I hope that I can inspire others to step out in faith and do the same!
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Although following my dreams has been such an amazing blessing, it has not been the easiest path. Relocating to different state hundreds of miles away from my family has been the hardest sacrifice. Family is extremely important to me and I love my family with all of my heart, so missing out on memories and family birthdays have been really tough. I have to always remember to keep at the forefront of mind that I am honestly doing this for them. Another challenge has been adjusting to LA life. The cost of living, the people, the weather, and pretty much anything else you can think of is completely different, but not all of the differences are negative. I’ve been able to meet some pretty amazing people, who have also had to transition from their previous home to LA, and it’s reminded me that I’m not alone in this journey!
Please tell us more about your work, what you are currently focused on and most proud of.
I’ve been a professional actress and model for 12 years. I specialize in television and film. I believe what sets me apart from others is that I ultimately plan to use my platform to give others an opportunity to achieve their goals and dreams as well. I don’t want to be an A-list actor or top model for fame, I’d like to be able to use my connections to give others an opportunity.
What is “success” or “successful” for you?
I define success as happiness. I believe if you are truly happy and at peace with yourself, no matter what career path you’ve chosen, you’ve achieved success.
