Meet Jasmine Pierre of Jadorelash in Southwest Houston

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jasmine Pierre.

Jasmine, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I was born in Houston, Texas with the spirit of entrepreneurship. I’ve always wanted to own a beauty salon, with dreams of becoming a top hairstylist. However, shortly after high school, that passion was lost. After countless career changes, I later decided I wanted to become a nurse and pursue nursing school in 2014. I figured it was a great career change with great benefits and pay. I was accepted into a nursing program all while working a full-time job at the Harris County Toll Road. To add, no one in my family was in the medical field, so there was no heads-up/advice. I was going into it blind and with little faith. Eventually, I found out working a full-time job was not ideal If I really wanted to take nursing school serious. So, I decided to go part-time at the Toll Road, later to discover that funds would become limited. With bills adding up, I desperately begin to brainstorm side hustles I could dabble in. A friend brought up the brilliant idea of going into the eyelash extension business. Of course, I rejected the idea due to having very little information about it. But in all actuality, I was operating in ”fear”.

It took me about two weeks to give it some thought. I did massive research. From YouTube to Instagram, to Google. To my surprise, I fell in love. The different looks that could be created from eyelash extensions were so inspiring. Not only that, but the thought of owning a business again sparked something. I went on to pursue the “side hustle” of eyelash extensions to soon find out nursing was not for me! I discovered a lot of unhappy nurses during my clinicals. I did not have any balance and I could not see myself in a hospital setting, drawing, changing patients, and just the overall “nurse life duties.” I became so intrigued with eyelash extensions. I was more passionate about this new “hustle” than nursing. I later realized it is better to do something you love rather than being forced into something just because of how well it pays. The more time I invested in eyelash extensions, the more freedom I could see. It was like I was given a new pair of eyes as the vision for my life begin to shift!

Ultimately, the nursing school did not work out as planned. I was left with this “side hustle.” Fear was no longer an option at this point. I knew I had to seize the moment and opportunity. Moving with intuition. With the faith of a mustard seed, I began my journey as a lash artist. Four years later, with consistent hard work, I can proudly say I’ve made the best decision ever. I managed to turn a hustle into a career when no one could see the bigger picture. With God, constant promotions, collaborations, late nights and early mornings, I have serviced over 1k+ satisfied customers, instructed over 50+ new lash artists and inspired many. I am now traveling to different cities to educate. Never would I have imagined all of this!

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Starting out in this industry was not as easy as I imagined! I was a late bloomer in the lash industry. It took me a while to pick up on the technique. I thought I would never get better. Plus, my timing on applying the extensions was so long. Not to mention all the money invested. I thought I wasted my money for a split second. I wanted to give up. The support was very limited, except for a few close family members.

What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
Traveling to different cities to help and educate new lash artists! Its amazing to look back at the very beginning and to see the progression made present day. Truly a humbling experience!
