Conversations with the Inspiring Amy Quintero

Today we’d like to introduce you to Amy Quintero.

Amy, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I started blogging as a way to do something that was solely for myself. When you’re married and have kids, many times your role in life is focusing on nurturing others and very rarely yourself. It brought life back to me and made me happy, so I love doing it even though it is hard work at times. I wanted to re-define myself as an individual that can have my own ideas and creativity. I love being a wife and a mom, but it wasn’t all of me. I also have a career and hobbies. Blogging became an outlet. I hope it continues to grow, and I inspire other women to step out and do what they love.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
It hasn’t been always a smooth road, but I think how you react to challenges ultimately shows how strong you are. You will face insecurities that make you question your self-worth. People will have always have something negative to say. Stay above it. I want to motivate and send out positive messages since it is so easy for people to tear each other down on social media. My best advice is to continue to do what you love and don’t let what people think to get to you. Keep striving to be better than who you were yesterday.

Please tell us more about your work, what you are currently focused on and most proud of.
I mainly blog about fashion and a little bit of traveling. I love looking polished, and I hope it helps others to want to put their best foot forward like it has for me. I love dresses and getting dolled up, but I rarely get to do so with my busy schedule. Blogging gave me this opportunity to do that. Normal people can be beautiful, and we all have our own inner beauty. It doesn’t always have to be celebrities looking their best, we can too. Also, our city has so much to offer, and the fun thing is, I get to go out and explore it. You will see a lot of dresses on my blog and some workwear since my primary source of income comes from my day job in the corporate world. I also love doing Sundays Best so you will see a few of those on my page. We are in the process of building a house so you guys will have to stay tuned for me to blog about that.

I also do a collaboration with Pippa and Pearl which is an online boutique in the Houston area. They have a pop-up store in the Galleria so check them out or visit them online at pippaandpearl.com

Another collaboration I do is with Made to Layer which is handmade jewelry that I am so obsessed with. You can check out their website at madetolayer.com, and they also do pop-ups around the Houston area. Follow them on IG for the next show location.

I have worked with two photographers so far. Yuliana Chi IG: yulianachi_photo & Ana Perez IG: ana.perez.ph

These businesses have helped support some of the content of my blog, and I am very very grateful.

Who do you look up to? How have they inspired you?
I’ve been really blessed to have a strong mother who really wanted to always see me happy. She raised me to look at people’s heart and not their skin color or cultural background. She supported my interracial marriage 100%. She really taught me how to love people and was really the backbone of our family. Her love for humanity inspires me. Her last trip to Vietnam, she visited an orphanage to spend time with the kids that were left unwanted. This really inspired me to one day be able to give back my time and resources to help and volunteer. Til this day, my mom is still married to dad, and I think being married for that long is very hard, and I really look up to that.
