Meet Brandon Boone

Today we’d like to introduce you to Brandon Boone.

Every artist has a unique story. Can you briefly walk us through yours?
I have always been a creative at heart. I would draw sketches as a kid, dance battle all around the city, and make music throughout my college days. But growing up in Louisiana, I didn’t know how to fully harness my creativity. As much as I love my home city, I wasn’t really exposed to creative careers. Besides making music or dancing, I didn’t really know how to make it as a “creative.” I didn’t even know what to major in until my older sister suggested I look into majoring in Marketing. I graduated from college in December 2012. It wasn’t until I moved to Austin a year after I graduated that I started realizing how many opportunities there were for creatives. I started diving more into Marketing and finding certain opportunities to expand my knowledge. Then I got into traveling which opened my mind to blogging, podcasting, and creating content for social media. My passion for music got me into music marketing and digital marketing. One thing led to another, and now I’m proud to say that I’m a full-time creative.

Please tell us about your art.
In a nutshell, I’m a content creator and digital marketer. For example, let’s look at Drake. Everyone knows Drake makes music and dope content. A lot of people give Drake all the credit for creating content when in reality, there’s a team behind everything Drake does. I would be the guy that’s a part of that team. I help music artists and brands create content that reaches their audience and grow their platform. My life’s mission is to “create to inspire” so that’s what I live by every day. I simply want to create content that inspires others to become greater people. I just don’t want to create content for a paycheck or just to say I’m a creative. Everything that I’m behind has to have a positive message. It has to have a purpose. Every artist that I work with is very inspirational and has a story to tell. The same goes for the majority of the brands that I work with.

What do you think about the conditions for artists today? Has life become easier or harder for artists in recent years? What can cities like ours do to encourage and help art and artists thrive?
I think it’s a great time for artists today. We can literally reach millions of people through the power of social media. I believe it’s easier when it comes to reaching people outside of your city but being a creative means you have to keep reinventing the wheel, and that can become exhausting. We just have to keep supporting each other. If we can share, like, and repost famous creatives we’ll never ever meet in this lifetime; we can support our local creatives that are actually making a difference in our own backyard — community over competition.

How or where can people see your work? How can people support your work?
Definitely follow me on the Gram (@iambboone). Everything I’m apart of, I post on there (including my two brands Up SZN and The Great Couples). I also post a lot of the artists I work with in my IG Stories. Last, check out Reflection Music Group (@rmgmusic) and My Executive Room (@myexecutiveroom). Reflection Music Group is an independent record label that is home for artists such as Derek Minor and Canon. As of 2019, I’m behind most of the digital marketing for the artists on their label. If you’re supporting those artists, you’re supporting me. My Executive Room is a boutique marketing and consulting firm. I’m behind their digital marketing as well, and we have a lot of educational content geared towards independent artists releasing very soon.
