Today we’d like to introduce you to Ashly Martinez.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Ashly. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I started in the beauty industry as a photographer in 2007. I pursued it more in 2009 as a hair and makeup artist. I really wanted to push my career to the fullest so I decided to enroll in cosmetology school! I graduated from Paul Mitchell the school Houston in 2016! I’m currently freelancing fulltime in Print/Tv/Film.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road. I had a lot of struggles with my family along the way. Trying to go to school with a small child and then putting dreams on hold to learn more about my stepsons’ diagnosis of higher functioning autism also known as Aspergers. But once we got through it as a family, I’ve been able to focus more on my business.
Please tell us about Ashly Ann Hair & Makeup.
My company is Ashly Ann Hair & Makeup and I specialize in trauma special fx makeup. I provide hair and makeup services for not only commercial, tv, Print, and film, I also provide hair and makeup services for events such as bridal, prom, homecoming, and more. What I’m most proud of is the hard work I give to each and one of my clients. What sets me apart from others is that not only am I super creative, I’m also not afraid to think outside of the box!
If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
I don’t think I’d start over. I’m a strong believer that everything happens for a reason. No reason to dwell on things you can’t change. The struggles I’ve gone through have made me the person I am today!
