Today we’d like to introduce you to Chelsea Lee.
So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I started my career at age 17 in Dallas working in Graphic Design. I was taken under the wing of a global leadership artist who gave me the tools and structure for business which was extremely helpful for what was to come into my life. At age 20, I became pregnant and had to make a huge decision and alone. It was the strength of my daughter Merritt that pushed me to open my first design company PM Media. When you’re a single mom, you can’t wait for life to come to you… it already has and I was responsible for another human. I did whatever I could to listen, learn and always move forward. Over the years and through struggles, I never lost sight of my career and I found something I was very good at… I was good at getting things done. In 2015, I opened Untitled Star, a full-service digital agency that has transformed and grown over the years into something more. We manage clients but also have a mission to create. Untitled Star will also release its first tv show concept this spring that I wrote/produced/acted in (I am so flipping nervous and excited) and we are gearing up for more productions in 2019.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
My life has been a hilarious journey that I will share more over time. For now, I think the hardest part of having your own business is having to be your own cheerleader. You have to self motivate and set your own deadlines which can be hard at times (but so worth it). I think the toughest struggle has been recent, I am at a transition in my career and the same things that once inspired me now weigh heavy. It was because of the weight that I started acting and wrote my first screenplay. I realized I always need to maintain a creative balance.
So, as you know, we’re impressed with Untitled Star – tell our readers more, for example, what you’re most proud of and what sets you apart from others.
Untitled Star is a boutique creative agency but really we do a little bit of everything. Websites, Graphic Design, Social Media Management, Digital Marketing, Production Services, and a lot of what I am hired for personally is Creative Direction or Digital Management. I am the person behind the scenes.
I think the thing I am most proud of is that I have stayed afloat, through my life of ups and downs I have always managed to stay hard at work. I am a solution finder so if I need or want to do something I am going to do it. The same thing can be said for my clients, they can rest easy knowing I am going to deliver. Maybe that’s what sets me apart? I don’t know, honestly, typing this all out and talking about myself is a pretty big accomplishment for me. Remember that part about being my own cheerleader?
So, what’s next? Any big plans?
Future Tripper Film is my newest work baby and for the first time in my life, I feel like I am walking down the right path. I want to write and produce positive and thought-provoking films and shows. I want to cover up some of the hate in this world with a laugh or a good cry. I didn’t have this breakthrough until recently.
I also want to use the company to help other filmmakers build a brand foundation for their projects. While writing #Followers (oh yeah, that’s my TV show coming out next month: https://youtu.be/
