Meet Tiffany Page-Pratt of P.H.A.T. Divas

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tiffany Page-Pratt.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Tiffany. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I am originally from New Orleans, Louisiana, where I lived most of my life. I now reside in Houston, TX, where I have my little family. I found an interest in the modeling industry back in Elementary School at Resurrection of Our Lord, where my class put on a fashion show as a fundraiser. There I fell in love and as a “Curvaceous Princess,” I searched for opportunities to become a model myself. As years went on, I became an amateur model and then my mind switched lanes. I then started thinking I wanted to help others like myself and help open doors who find it hard to get into this industry like I did. Especially being a “Curvaceous Queen” it was hard getting accepted into shows because I kept getting told that I wasn’t the type that they were looking for. So, I had to perfect my craft and show them that I could be just as good as the average model; then, SUCCESS!!!

We are a Modeling Agency based out of New Orleans, Louisiana, and Houston, Texas. The acronyms for the P.H.A.T. is Pretty Hott And Thick. We strive to open doors and pave the way for those who either have the dream or had the dream of being a model. We do not discriminate against any size whether you are what we call our “Slimmy Queens” or our “Curvaceous Queens”. As well as height, whether you are as short as our “Dwarfs”, or as tall as our “Stallions”. We welcome all!!!

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
No, it hasn’t been a smooth road. It has been all kinds of struggles; financial mainly. I began to do my research about the modeling industry and then eventually how to start a business in the industry. P.H.A.T. Divas was established in July 2010, but like a lot of small businesses, it is a struggle to get your business off the ground. Other obstacles I stumbled across were finding the right and reasonable photographers, makeup artist, etc. Basically, I have been looking for people to help build our company. There were many years where I did a little here, a little there, then had to stop and put it on the back burner. It took me to move to Houston, TX in 2015 to tell myself that if I was going to really do it, that I had to just DO IT. So, as of today, it will be nine years this coming July that we’ve been established. I’ve now got the ball rolling and it’s rolling slow but I am very determined and not letting it stop this time. I have been doing majority of the work alone and had help here and there, but mainly myself and God. I thank God for giving me the vision and passion to want to make this movement in the world. I believe and just want to see it flourish into what I envisioned it to be and whatever God has planned for it to go. I also want to thank my Wife, my Daughter, my Mom, family and friends that has been very supportive. Thank you all so much. I appreciate and love you all.

Please tell us about P.H.A.T. Divas.
P.H.A.T. Divas is a modeling agency that strives to open doors for those who either has a dream or had a dream of being a model; especially plus-size models. We are here to make that dream come true or revitalize that dream others gave the cold-shoulder to because they weren’t getting anywhere or couldn’t fulfill that dream. We also strive on building confidence in those who think or believe that they aren’t pretty or beautiful enough. We believe everyone is beautiful in their own way and has a UNIQUE look. So, therefore, we specialize in beauty and fashion, as broad as that sounds it is something that everyone has in them to show. Everyone needs clothes, no matter what size or height they are. This is something I am most proud of about our company; because we are not the normal agency that puts stipulations on size and height. In the normal modeling industry, they tell everyone that you have to be 5’0 – 5’5″ in order to be a Petite Model and in order to be a Supermodel you have to be 5’9″ and above. Which leads me to the questions of:

~Why does it have to be bracketed?
~What about the little people (dwarfs), the in-between people or the over and beyond people? For example, looking at a 5’11” size eight woman in an outfit, doesn’t help the 5’6″ size 14 woman who wants to know “how will that outfit look on me?”

We want to change the game a little and include every and anybody that wants to build themselves up to be that model that they always wanted to be, with discipline, class, and confidence. Can we take you from you foyer’ and hallways to the runway. Come step in front of the camera with us. Join today.

Do you look back particularly fondly on any memories from childhood?
As a child, I was one of the girls who was made fun of because I was the thick girl in the class. It affected my self-esteem for a while until I got to the 6th grade. Our class put together a fashion show as a fundraiser so we could go to Washington D.C. as a class trip. OMG, I loved it!!! I found a love for modeling after participating in the fashion show. It boosted my self-esteem a great deal, where I started looking at the different fashion trends in my age bracket, of course. As I grew older, I started picking up more & more of a fashion sense. About the age of 16, I received an offer from John Casablancas Modeling Agency. I was too excited, but of course, Mama wasn’t having that…LOL, I had to keep my head in the books. So, after graduating from High School, I found a job in the fashion industry working for Lane Bryant. As the years went on, I entered in a few photo shoots and fashion shows; until Mo’Nique (comedian/actress) came out with the movie “Phat Girlz”. This set the pace of ambition in my mind and started the wheels to turn in my thought process. I came up with the idea to help plus-size women and models along with other models to build their confidence. So, thanks to that 6th-grade moment of my childhood, which led to starting my own modeling agency.
