Cynthia Garza began her journey in Alice, Texas, a small South Texas city forty-five miles west of Corpus Christi in her sister’s hair salon at the age of fourteen. During her high school years, she not only study cosmetology but also held a clientele of friends and relatives. Upon graduating from high school, Cynthia moved to San Antonio to continue her education and also decided to work at a salon in North Star Mall. It was during this time that Cynthia was introduced to Paul Mitchell Hair Care and her love for the industry grew to where she wanted to become an educator. Twenty-three years later with multiple titles such as: International Color Educator, Master Educator, Platform Artist Club Member and other titles depending upon where she was teaching. Alta Moda Salon was created during this time and to date, the salon has been featured in INC 5000’s top growing independently held companies.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
The industry as a whole has changed, from technology to technique, work ethics, and business ethics, everything has become somewhat of a challenge. For myself and the salon, what has stayed consistent is that we pride ourselves on giving our staff the best education possible and making sure that each individual is still passionate about creating beautiful hair.

As a salon, we pride ourselves on creating experiences that are memorable. We believe in passion, perfection, professionalism, and precision and I personally hold each individual accountable to make sure that they are abiding and living by these four simple practices.
Our service menu is strictly hair because hair is what we know and what we love. We offer everything related to hair: highlighting, balayage, ombre, sombre, baby lights, lowlights, single-process color, extensions, haircutting, and specialty styling.
Alta Moda Salon is known for corrective color and hand-painted techniques.
As a company, we are most proud of being in business for over 20 years and for being recognized in INC 5000 twice as one of the fast-growing independently held business.
If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
If I had to start over, I don’t think that I would change anything. Being an entrepreneur has been challenging, but something that I have always wanted to be. Having your own business teaches you to adapt and learn on the fly and I believe that by having setbacks they make your team and yourself stronger.
