Today we’d like to introduce you to Falisha Benson.
Falisha, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
Long story short I was a single mother of one. I worked in the oil and gas industry. My son was sickly to where I always had to leave work to care for him. My boss suggested that I take a lay-off in order to tend to him. The doctors could never figure out what was wrong with my son, so I started dipping berries from home for extra money. My hobby quickly turned into a Business from the rapid support of my community. With lots of prayers, hard work, and determination, I’ve been able to make it six years full-time in the sweets industry.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Absolutely not! Entrepreneurship is never smooth Unless you’re just born rich.
Entrepreneurship brings many challenges. One of the biggest challenges is training your mind That you are capable of Being your own boss Even when the money is running out! You constantly have to tell yourself that it will get better and the struggle will pay off!
Another struggle along the way is getting people to see your worth! Getting people to pay your price.
GoodiesByJell – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
GoodiesByJell is a home-based desert business that was established in 2013. We specialize in custom boutique style desserts. We are most known for our beautifully hand dipped juicy chocolate covered strawberries!
As a company, we are proud To have loyal customers! Some of our customers have been with us for six years and better ! This business has Blossomed from word of mouth. There’s nothing like a satisfied customer!
What sets us apart from others is our dedication! Long nights and long days just to get the job done. We Use the finest ingredients, and We pride ourselves in presentation! Most people can tell a GoodiesByJell dessert table from afar!
What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
I’ve had many proud moments, But the one that rings a bell is teaching! I offer local and out of state online dessert 101 classes & Pre-recorded Facebook tutorials.
To be able to teach someone, my gift is a blessing! It brings me much joy! To have women from all over the world, purchase my online tutorials, and 101 classes are very humbling. I’ve had the privilege of teaching 32 states & 7 different countries thus far! It’s only the beginning. I’m very Thankful for that.
