Meet Krystie Archer of Krystieelee Photography in Downtown

Today we’d like to introduce you to Krystie Archer.

Krystie, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I realized I had an extreme passion for photography while I was in high school. I took a photography class and walked everywhere throughout the campus with my little rental camera constantly in my hand. I ended up buying my own camera and had it for a few years before it broke and never turned on again. I was completely devastated.

After that, I never picked up a camera again until a year and a half ago. Immediately, I got right back into it and I am still learning more and more new things everyday. It started with landscapes, small local bands, portraits, weddings, family’s, and finally realized what I love more than anything was shooting live concerts. If you know me, you already know how much I am a music maniac (even though I cannot learn how to play an instrument to save my life) and there is never a time I am not attending a rock show. Now, years later of hard work and lots of free shoots I got to where I am today working and writing for magazines while still continuing to learn more and more each and everyday.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
So far it’s been a super smooth ride for me. But I will say, it does get difficult trying to manage being a photographer, a blogger, a mother to an amazing little six years old, all while keeping my full-time job in the medical center.

Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Krystieelee Photography – what should we know?
Krystieelee Photography is all about capturing any moment in time even if it’s simple, ordinary or normal and turning it into something beautiful that you can look back on and cherish forever. I am proud of how far I have come with my photography journey and how I am continuing to push my limits I never Imagined being able to push. I have overcome a huge challenge of getting through depression recently which had me in a dark place for a long time but I luckily got past most of it and a lot of that had to do with rediscovering my passion for photography. I never once cared for the money from it because for me I considered it as own version of therapy and a way to escape my mind and enjoy the beauty in life and capturing all the small things we all mistakenly take for granted. So I can definitely say, becoming a photographer helped me in so many ways and had a big role in saving me from myself.

Is there a characteristic or quality that you feel is essential to success?
What I feel Is most important is communication and motivation. If you don’t have at least one of those features about yourself and your business it’s not going to work out very well in the long run.
