Today we’d like to introduce you to Winnifer Washington.
So, before we jump into specific questions about your work, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I initially started Her Wellness Journey as an aspiring YouTube blogger. At the time, I was barely 30 and very unhealthy in pretty much every aspect of my life. I was confused and felt off course from the collegiate plans I had made for my life. When I searched online for resources, I could not find what I needed for inspiration and to pick myself up from the rut I was in to improve my lifestyle. So, I made it a personal mission to help myself and share my story to help other women who also need inspiration. Her Wellness Journey from there has grown to become a talk show that airs on Houston Media Source and available on YouTube. In addition to sharing my journey now, I am also fortunate to interview amazing women here in Houston and share their journeys too!
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Fortunately, things have progressed naturally for Her Wellness Journey. With the talk show HWJtv being very new, the biggest task ahead is to create awareness and grow into a community of women that are focused on positive vibes and uplifting one another.
Her Wellness Journey – what should we know? What do you do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
Her Wellness Journey TV is a talk show that features women doing amazing things right in your backyard. So many great people and things are going on every day in this city Houston but, they do not always get the attention they deserve. Through accessible media outlets, HWJtv aspires to empower women and encourage wellness as a lifestyle. I am so honored to be a Houstonian and to have access to the technology and the great staff at Houston Media Source. Often, after filming an interview, I just sit in amazement of the extraordinary women this project allows me to meet and share with the World.
What is “success” or “successful” for you?
As time goes by, my definition of success has changed. I now define success in this season of my life as the peace of mind I have knowing I am doing something I am passionate about with people who are also invested and passionate in the betterment of others. I know that the work I am doing now potentially will reach another woman who was once like me searching the web for inspiration to encourage them through the times. Success is now measured by the women I reach and the positive feedback received.
