Today we’d like to introduce you to Marcus “Ocho” Reynolds.
So, before we jump into specific questions about your work, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
Watergate Tapes was founded by myself, on my college campus in 2012. It started out as a group of creatives that enjoyed working on new musical and theatrical ideas. Today, Watergate Tapes stands as a Record Label and a Production Company that focuses mainly on the works of myself “Ocho”, and my artists “Curt Corona” and “Saint Nic.” We as the Watergate team pride ourself on our lyrical skill set and creative eat that we combine to make a powerhouse group.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
It has not been perfect, but then again, whatever is? The hardest part is getting off the ground and gaining recognition alongside maintaining our daily lives outside of our craft. A fan base won’t create itself but the bill won’t pay themselves either!
So, as you know, we’re impressed with Watergate Tapes – tell our readers more, for example, what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
We create hits!! There is absolutely not a sound that we can’t match, create, or top! All of our work is don’t in the house except for beat production (which will soon be in-house) so we have a hand in every single process and understand the work it actually takes behind scenes. We are known now for being lyrical and conscious while still carrying the grit of the streets in our melodies. As far as what sets us apart, well, we’re just… better!!
So, what’s next? Any big plans?
Our future plans are to be recognized and continue creating art for those we inspire. And for those that believe I’ve found my way here by luck, I say this. Everything is earned, hard-worked, and expected. Luck is for those who don’t believe in the manifestation of their dreams.
