Meet Hayden Jones

Today we’d like to introduce you to Hayden Jones.

So, before we jump into specific questions about your work, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
Well, I began with an Obsession with Music. My journey in making it my life’s work has led me to where I am today. I have learned, and am still learning, how to utilize it in the most constructive way both for the community and my self. There has been many pitfalls and struggles but more and more I’m seeing the natural power of music beginning to pay off and work in my favor.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Definitely not a smooth road. Basically from high school, and even in high school, I went for an ambitious pursuit or some type of Success and Achievement. Though that “success” was loosely defined and probably a cliche version of it. never the less, I was going for it, and have been ever since. Though especially since the last couple of years, that definition of success has been more personalized and clarified. I’ve had struggles of every kind, existential, financial, health, relationships, you name it. And through all of it, I found the greatest healer to be healing others through music. That’s why I get so much fulfillment playing Retirement Homes and Nursing Homes. Which is how I have primarily made my living for the last two years.

Please tell us about Hayden Jones Music.
I am a professional Musician. Put simply, I am paid to perform music. There are several different types of shows I do and each has its particular qualities and purposes. For example, there are Bar Gigs, Cafe Gigs, Private Parties, Listening Concerts, Old Folks Homes… you get the idea.

I specialize in being able to recreate the music of Old America in a captivating, fresh, and unique way. I also specialize in writing and performing Original Music. In the case of Retirement Homes or Nursing Homes, my ability to take the listener back to their youth or childhood through song is what gives me value. Also, my ability to connect with them on a personal level and make them feel comfortable. Music is a powerful tool and reaches deep into the Human Soul, often tears of joy or of sweet sadness are shed just as laughter and excitement are had in the same show. We go through the beauty of the human experience through song.

I don’t know if I am “most proud” but I certainly am proud of taking a unique, practical, and diverse approach to the music business. Being able to perform solo and having, what I think, a universally appealing style, allows me to be flexible and malleable. i.e. I can perform for a wild night at Avant Garden for local hipsters, the next morning play a Kids Birthday Party, then that evening play an Old Folks Home. I love being able to play for all different types of people on all walks of life. Music is for everyone. Spiritually, that is a fulfilling approach and business-wise it opens up a lot of doors.

If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
That’s hard to say. I guess I would have spent more time honing in on my craft more instead of trying to run with what I had. Guitar-wise and music in general, I’ve learned so much. I used to have a 60s Surf Rock kind of band as a Teenager and I know it could have been so much better if I had the Musical Maturity I have now. That’s not to say I still don’t have plenty of room for improvement.

There’s probably a lot of things I would have done differently but to some extent, I’m proud of the fact that I jumped in and got my hands dirty. I fell and got bruised and beat up many times but it’s led me to the knowledge and experience I’ve acquired. If I had played it safe, I would have missed out on some quality life-lessons. And good stories to tell!
